CLASSICAL
J.S. Bach
Classical music is actually the type of
music that comes from a certain place in time. It's time period is
from 1750 to 1820. According to what James Bastien wrote in
the music book Easy Piano Classics, the Classical period
was a new style of music following the Baroque (ba-roke) period.
It was highly refined with a "simple melodic line and harmonic texture,
unified by symmetrical form." Some of the most memorable composers
of the Classical time period include Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart, Muzio Clementi, and Ludwig van Beethoven.
"Classical" is also the term that
many people give to the type of music that was done mostly between 1600
and 1900. This is truly split into three different periods - the
Baroque period, the Classical period, and the Romantic period. Most
of the recent classical music being performed now are just the works done
by the true composers of the time, though I have heard of a few present-day
composers trying to imitate the Classical style. I can't name them
off the top of my head though.
