What is 50/50?

50/50 tickets are sold during each Waterloo Blackhawks home game with 50% of the proceeds given away to the winning ticket holder(s) in $50.00 increments. The remainder of the proceeds go to the Waterloo Youth Hockey Association. Since a large portion of the Jr. Hawk operating budget (10%) comes from the sale of 50/50 tickets, participating in this fundraiser is mandatory for all members of the Jr. Hawks. The goal is to average $100 per team member.

All Junior Hawk families are included on the 50/50 schedule (Mites through Bantams). If your name does not appear on the list, contact WYHA immediately. It is every members responsibility to sell!

The following options are possible:

1. Work the assigned game - at least 1 family member must work. Worker must be at least 14 years old to work alone without adult supervision. We encourage your skater to help you sell.
2. Trade assigned times with a member of another team. (Notify your team captain 3 days before the assigned game and make sure that the person you trade with or hire to replace you will be there. This is your responsibility.)
3. Find someone reliable who will actually sell instead of just getting into the game for free!!
4. Buy out of 50/50 for $125.00.

Team Captains may call to remind you of your assigned game. However, each member is responsible for remembering the assigned game, even if they do not receive a call.

MEMBERS WILL BE CHARGED $50 FOR FAILING TO SELL AT ASSIGNED GAMES and SKATER(S) WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SKATE (PRACTICE OR GAMES) UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED.

You are to enter Young Arena at the lower "Skaters Entrance". Young Arena staff will check your name off the list of assigned workers. If you are subbing, give the name of the person you are subbing for. Meet your team captains in the sound room - behind the press box on the upper level. Workers should be at the arena a minimum of 30 minutes before game time. Captains should arrive 45 minutes before game time.

SELLING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Sell before game and during both intermissions. It is OK to be on the concourse during the game, but do not walk the stands during the game. Workers are expected to actively sell. Captains will remind workers of this throughout the game. Someone will be expected to be at the Jr. Hawks 50/50 table at the West End of the concourse through the entire game.
2. Workers must be AT LEAST 14 years old to sell without direct adult supervision.
3. Do not consume alcoholic beverages while selling tickets.
4. Be sure to "work the stands" during intermissions.
5. After second intermission, money is counted and prizes figured.
6. Sell the tickets: 1 for $1, 3 for $2, 9 for $5, or 25 for $10
