RULES COMMITTEE:There shall be a Rules Committee made up of the Vice President of the Board as chairperson and four (4) other members of the organization in good standing. This committee shall govern all rules infractions of the organization.
GENERAL CONDUCT AND CITIZENSHIP:No player, coach, parent, guardian or member of the Waterloo Junior Hawks organization shall engage in any conduct detrimental to the organization. Players, coaches, parents, guardians and members of the organization shall comply with and abide by the rules and regulations of this policy. Violations may result in suspension or expulsion from the organization.
PLAYERS CODE
SCHOLASTICS: It is the desire of the organization that players, coaches, parents or guardians place a high value on academics. Every team player shall abide by their registered school system's academic eligibility rules. It shall be the responsibility of the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the player to report ineligibility to the Rules Committee. Failure to report can result in suspension or expulsion from the program.
SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION: Any player who receives an out-of-school suspension or expulsion shall be ineligible for participation, including practices, during the periods of suspension or expulsion. The player shall be eligible to participate when readmitted to school. Reporting of such incidents will be made by and shall be the responsibility of the player's parent(s) or guardian(s). A failure to report can result in suspension of expulsion from the program.
ALCOHOL, DRUGS, TOBACCO: Any player, at anytime, who is found in possession of, is found guilty of, or admits to consumption, possession, acquiring, delivering or transporting beer, alcoholic beverages. tobacco or any controlled substance as defined in the Iowa Code as amended, shall be suspended or expelled from the organization.
CRIMINAL ACTS: Any player, at any time, who admits to or is convicted of breaking the law, except for minor traffic violations, or who is found to be delinquent, may be suspended or expelled from the organization. Any player who steals or attempts to steal anything including equipment or jerseys from a fellow player, coach, spectator, visiting team, the Waterloo Junior Hawks organization or from anyone or anyplace or destroys or defaces any property of another at anyplace may be suspended or expelled from the organization. Any player who engages in fisticuffs (fighting) off the ice, before or after any game with anyone may be suspended or expelled from the organization.
GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTIES: If any player receives a total of three (3) game misconduct penalties in a season, he/she may be suspended pending a hearing by the Rules Committee. This hearing with the player and his/her parent(s) or guardian(s) shall be held within seven (7) days of the infraction causing the suspension. At this hearing, a decision will be made as to whether the player may continue participation in games.
DELIBERATE OR INTENT TO INJURE PENALTIES: Any player who receives an intent to injure penalty or who deliberately attempts to injure another player or deliberately injures another player, shall be suspended from practice and games pending a hearing by the Rules Committee. The hearing with the player and his/her parent(s) or guardian(s) shall be held within seven (7) days of the infraction causing the suspension. Players are also governed by rules 603 and 608 in the USAHockey Official Players Rules.

COACHES CODE
ALCOHOL, DRUGS, TOBACCO: No coach shall use drugs, alcohol or any form of tobacco during any game, practice or meeting. No coach shall be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during any game, practice or meeting. Any coach found using any of the above as stated shall be suspended from the organization. A hearing shall be held by the Rules Committee within seven (7) days of the infraction to determine length of suspension.
CRIMINAL ACTS: Any coach who admits to, or is convicted of breaking the law, except for minor traffic violation, may be suspended or expelled from the organization.
GAME CONDUCT: Any coach who is expelled from any game for any reason shall have such expulsion reviewed by the Rules Committee within seven (7) days of the infraction. Such conduct could result in suspension or expulsion from the organization.

PARENTS CODE
Parents shall strive to exhibit the highest standards of sportsmanship and
proper behavior. In addition, parents shall be supportive of the Junior Hawks'
coaches and be respectful of the officials, referees. rink managers and others
involved conducting or sponsoring such tournaments, games or practices.
SUPERVISION OF PLAYERS: Parents or guardians are responsible for
ensuring their child is dressed and skates tied ready for practices and games.
It is not the responsibility of coaches and/or other parents to assist or
supervise children, other than their own, off the ice.
CONTACT WITH COACHES REGARDING COACHING ISSUES: Any concerns,
complaints or other comments concerning coaching conduct, policies or
procedures, only after a 24 hour cooling off period, shall be brought to the
attention of the Rules Committee or member. If deemed necessary, the Rules
Committee will arrange a meeting with parent(s) or guardian(s) and coach(es)
within seven (7) days of notification.
SANCTIONS FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE PARENT CODE: Upon a claimed violation
of the Parent Code, the Rules Committee may elect to investigate the claimed
violation. If the Rules Committee determines, in its sole and exclusive
discretion, that a violation has occurred, the Rules Committee may impose
sanctions ranging from a written warning, a temporary suspension, or expulsion
from the organization. If sanctions are brought against a participant's family
member, the same sanctions may be applied to the participant.
