Pittsburg
Although little remains of this community west of Keosauqua, it was once a busy trading center. Phil Stong, noted author of "State Fair." was born here and his father operated the general store which is now an antique store. The 1844 brick house where Phil was born is located adjacent to the store. A two-acre perennial garden is a popular stop for many. To the north of Pittsburg is Austin Park, a quiet country park on the lower Des Moines River.
