Cantril
In 1870, a prominent lawyer, L. W. Cantril, laid out the town of Nickleville in the southwest part of the county. In 1871, he sold land through the town to the Iowa and Missouri State Line Railroad, thus assuring the town's life. He also changed the town's name to Cantril.
Cantril hosts numerous activities thoughout the year. A Mennonite operated business offering bulk food, fabric and other items, is a popular stop for local patrons and visitors.
