Student Teaching
My student teaching took place in two separate placements. I had the opportunity to work for seven weeks in a kindergarten placement and seven weeks in a multi-age classroom with second and third grade. My portfolio will contain many different aspects from both of my placements. I have included examples for each experience in order to provide a more comprehensive view of my student teaching.
My first placement was at Clear Creek Elementary School with a class of seventeen kindergarten children. Since I started at this placement in August, I was able to see how this group adjusted to this new setting. I found it fascinating to see how much these children grew and changed over just the seven weeks of my experience.
My second experience was at Amana Elementary with a second and third grade classroom. I had never worked with a multi-age class before, so it was a valuable experience to see how well these children were able to work together. There were seven third grade students and nine second grade students. The older children, who had been in this room the previous year, were able to give the second graders so much guidance and support. It was fascinating to me to see just how much they were able to learn from each other.
