"Cedar SHARE" is a monthly food distribution project that provides high-quality items at reduced cost in exchange for community service.

SHARE sign-up is usually the first Thursday of the month. SHARE food distribution is usually the last Saturday of the month in Fellowship Hall at First United Church of Christ. Please check our Calendar for exact dates and times.

SHARE is people. People committed to helping people. People committed to helping their community. In SHARE everybody benefits – the participants and the community. The participants benefit, because they are receiving fresh, wholesome food at a bargain price. The community benefits, because each participant is asked to do two hours of community service.

SHARE is for everyone. It is actually a privately-run food co-op and participation is open to any person or household. There are no forms, no membership fees, and no income verification. Just food – mostly fresh produce and frozen meat, poultry, or fish- at better prices than you can find in a retail store. The SHARE program asks that someone in your household do two hours of volunteer or community service for each unit purchased, and volunteering at a distribution site, helping one of your neighbors, school involvement and many of the things community-minded people already do all count toward that total.

For all households, participation in SHARE offers menu variety, a really good deal, and the chance to make a difference in the community.

Currently, each SHARE unit requires 2 hours of volunteer service and $16 (or $15 Food Stamps plus $1 cash) for $30 to $35 of food. Sign up is on the first Thursday of the month from 5-6 p.m. at First United Church of Christ, 600 Mulberry St., Tipton. Food pick up is on the fourth Saturday (sometimes third Saturday) of the month, 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. at the church. Please check our Calendar for exact dates and times.
