The purpose of our church is to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and celebrate the sacraments; to realize Christian Fellowship and unity within this church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward humankind; and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace.

Many activities are available for youth. The Christian Education Committee provides Sunday School each week during the school year. There are Senior Youth (high school) and Junior Youth (middle school) group programs. There is a Children's Choir which performs each month. Kids can also go Pilgrim Heights church camp near Tama, Iowa during the summer for a variety of programs.

Fellowship is a special part of our Christian experience. each Sunday after services we meet in 'Fellowship Hall" for coffee, cookies and conversation. The Women's Fellowship group sponsors many events each year including The Ice Cream social in the fall, and the Stewardship Potato Bar.

The Fellowship and Worship Committee reach out to guests and new members to welcome them to our church family.

The Sacrament of Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month. It is also offered at Cedar Manor and Mechanicsville Nursing Homes for residents who cannot attend services.

Service to our community is important. "Cedar SHARE" is a monthly food distribution project that provides high-quality items at reduced cost in exchange for community service. "Called to Care" is a program where caregivers reach out to others by spending quality time with those in our congregation and community.

Our church is governed by a Church Council of Elders and Deacons that are elected by the members of the church. There is no outside governance of our church.
