Butterfly Bush is a deciduous shrub that is the backbone of the late summer perennial garden. Easy to grow, its narrow branches support lilac-like clusters of blossoms that can vary from a foot or two in length with side branches and blossoms.
Butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds will flock to the honeyscented blossoms, whose nectar is sweetest in mid-day sun.
Prune back in the spring for a neat looking shape. Buddleias break dormancy late, but you will be amazed at the rate of growth by midsummer.
