Our pastor is the Rev. Douglas V. Morton. Pastor Morton, a native Iowan, was born in 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended Kenwood Elementary, Franklin Jr. High, Washington High School (1 year) and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1971. He received his B.A. degree from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa in December of 1974. In 1979 he received his M. Div. degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He is currently involved in the Doctor of Ministry program at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.

After graduation from Seminary he pastored St. John's Lutheran Church, St. James, Missouri (1979-1994). He then pastored Immanuel Lutheran Church, Boonville, Missouri(1985-1993). In 1994 he became pastor of St. John's congregation.

Pastor Morton lives in Marengo with his wife Pamela and their children. He enjoys reading, golfing, and being with people. His desire is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with people so that they may know they too can have forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and meaning in life.
