Lutheran Youth Fellowship
LYF is the high school youth group. It includes all youth (grades 9-12)
who are attending church at St. John's. The main purpose of LYF is to provide
these youth with opportunities to meet, study, work and have fellowship with other
young people in the congregation, circuit, district, and Synod. LYF generally meets
the first Thursday of each month during the school year at 7:30 pm. For more
information, call the church to get in touch with the current LYF Youth Coordinator
at (319) 642-5452.
Youth For Christ (YFC) For 7th and 8th Graders:
This usually meets monthly, except for June-August, on the first
Thursday after confirmation classes (7:30). In the summer we have a day trip usually
in July. They are members until the freshman year of high school starts in the fall,
then they join LYF.
Youth For Christ (YFC) for 5th and 6th Graders:
This is not a scheduled monthly meeting. However at least 4 activities
are planned a year usually on a quarterly basis. They move on to 7th and 8th grade YFC
when they are 7th graders in the fall.
