About The Bowl

The Bowlful o' Blues is our big annual musical event. It is held at Maytag Park in Newton, Iowa every summer.

We have been host to many famous and excellent blues performers, including Big Jack Johnson, Li'l Ed & the Blues Imperials, Long John Hunter, Tinsley Ellis, RJ Mischo, Willie Kent, the BelAirs, the Blues Notions, Super Chikan, Big Al & the Heavyweights, Catfish Keith, Chubby Carrier, Reverend Raven & the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys, Joe Price, and Patrick Hazell.

We have some posters and schedules from past festivals for you to look at...

Performances in the Maytag Park amphitheater

The Bowl in Bowlful o' Blues refers to the beautiful amphitheater in Maytag Park upon which we have our stage. The park itself is shaded by giant maple and oak trees. Kids and adults can cool off in the park swimming pool, which includes two large water slides. There is a great frisbee golf course on the park grounds.

Newton, home of The Bowlful o' Blues, is located about an hours drive east of Des Moines, Iowa.
