[USMCICON] [USMCICON] Still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Right now I want to be on active duty again. Until then, I will visit Headquarters Marine Corps to keep up on the happenings of my Corps. I have found this site to provide up to date information as well as pointer to other Corps related sites. They also reference other Marine Corps related sites.

The Marine Corps Marathon, "The People's Marathon" , starts and ends at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. (Further information and directions.) The 37th Annual Marine Corps Marathon will start accepting entries on March 7, 2012. Registrations fill up fast so do not dawdle. Check them out at: Marine Corps Marathon. Semper Fi ! ! !

Speaking of running, that is one of my hobbies. I enjoy this Iowa small town living because it affords me the opportunity to get onto the country roads in minutes from my house away from traffic, barking dogs, and the fumes of city living. My family provided me a Garmin GPS watch that when synced up with satillites will record/display a multitude of informatin such as distance and time traveled and even your heart rate if you elect to wear the heart rate strap on your chest. Once I finish the run I hook the watch to my computer and I use a program called SportTracks to record my information and display it as my log book. I love this program because of the maps and elevation it displays. There are also what is called plugins that add addition functionality to the program. Check it out at SportTracks

One of the most beautiful places I traveled to during my Marine Corps career was in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. Recently I was able to recount some of the beauty by visiting Desert Gold. I heartily recommend this site if you want to experience the beauty of the desert.

More to come later ! ! ! ! !
