Mission of Shiloh Bible Church
It is the mission of SBC to glorify God by relishing in the person and work of His Son (John 1:14-18). In accomplishing this mission we will. . .
- Exalt the supremacy of God the Father (Rom. 11:36).
- He is supreme because He is God alone (Is. 44:6).
- His supremacy is displayed through the manifestation of His various attributes (Ex. 34:6; Is. 46:9-13; 42:8-9; Titus 2:11).
- Establish Christ as our only means of access to God (Rom.5:1-2).
- The Son's work as God made flesh (Jn. 1:1-4, 14; Titus 2:13) secures our only means of acquiring the righteousness needed to stand before God (Matt. 5:48; Rom. 3:21-25; Col. 1:28).
- In Christ, believers stand justified (Rom. 3:24), reconciled (Col. 1:22), and free from all condemnation and accusation (Rom. 8:1, Col. 1:22).
- Exegete the text properly, in a way that points to the person and work of Jesus Christ (Col. 1:15-23).
- A proper understanding of the Word always comes, not by reading into the text "what we think", but by understanding the text in it's context (II Tim. 2:15).
- Spiritual growth comes through mind renewal (Rom.12:1-2), which is only accomplished as we continually see the person of Christ by the means of the Spirit's illumination in the inspired Word of God.
- Encourage the Body of Christ to persevere in the grace of God (Rom. 5:1-2; Gal. 3:1-6; 5:1).
- The body of Christ is to be unified around the person of Christ through a correct understanding of the text (Col. 2:2).
- God is the ultimate source of this perseverance (II Thess. 1:11).
