Shiloh Bible Church

Shiloh Bible Institute

What is "Shiloh Bible Institute?"

Shiloh Bible Institute (SBI) is designed to bring glory to God through the systematic teaching of God's word in an intensive "teaching" atmosphere. It is our desire to teach God's word in such a way as to enable various laypersons to accurately understand, exegete, and expound God's word in their own personal life, with their families, and in a local church setting. We will endeavor to reach the heart through the mind (Rom. 12:2) as the Spirit of God works through His Word.

Why have an Institute?

At SBC we believe there is a great need within our post-modern church for doctrine to be taught. Due to the scholastic system of our day (with its colleges and other schools of higher learning) we have begun to foster a separation between the "real world" and the world of higher education. This separation has hurt the local church severely. Today's churches put a premium on practical truth -- to the exclusion of doctrine. We believe that doctrine or even better "theology" should be taught at school, while the church should be dedicated to living out the Bible in every day life. This false separation between thinking and action is not only opposed to the biblical teaching, but also impossible to maintain in every day life. Every person, saved or lost acts upon what they assume to be true. They read the gas gage in their car and decide they have enough gas to get to town. They see the forecast of rain and decide to cancel the picnic. The same is true of Christianity.

Our thinking greatly impacts our actions. When we fail to realize our own wickedness (as stated in God's word) we fool ourselves into thinking we can handle our problems by ourselves. We do not understand the great treasure we have in the gospel and so are forced to manufacture holiness using other extra-biblical methods (walking an aisle, submitting to a second working of grace, etc). It is for this reason that we have decided to begin our institute to better equip the children of God for the process of mind renewal that is so vital for spiritual growth!
