"The Lynnville Seed Company" has been a part of this Central Iowa
community since 1935. It was the home of "Riverside Brand" seed and a facility
where soybeans, corn, oats and many other food grade grains have been
conditioned for many years. In 1975 an identity preserved system was
implemented and many great improvements were made to the facility to handle
food grade soybeans. Since then, there have been many additions to the facility
notably a color sorter which vastly improves the quality of soybean output.
The Seed Company is located in the small town of Lynnville, Iowa in Central Iowa right in the heart of the most abundant soybean production centers in the world. The facility is conveniently located near Interstate 80 and is only 20 miles from Newton rail port which facilitates shipments to all international ports as well as to domestic destinations
The Seed Company is a food grade grain conditioning facility approved by the Iowa Crop Improvement Association. We are equipped to handle Certified Organic grains and Non-GMO Commercial grains. We have the capacity to clean in excess of 400 bushels (10.9 MT's) per hour for soybeans.
Soybeans and other grains that enter our facility are stored in any of
our 64 bins which we have in order to guarantee purity of variety. Bins are
thoroughly cleansed as are augers in order to prevent even the minutest mixing
of different lots and varieties of grains. All grain inputs are strip tested
many times over for GMO contamination prior to entering our bins. We
religiously uphold our Non-GMO practices and have a rigid system in place to
avoid GMO contamination.
Grains enter the facility through a roof covered unloading dock. Doors
are shut on both ends to prevent entry of rodents, birds and other pests. The
Seed Company takes every possible measure to guarantee and to provide to our
customers a food grade product of the cleanest and highest standard in food
safety. Only select transport companies which are familiar with our standards
are allowed to transport grains to our facility. All trailers must be
thoroughly washed and free of any foreign grains and materials. Each hopper is
checked before it enters the offloading area and only after thorough inspection
and testing for contamination are grains allowed to enter the
facility.
The first step in conditioning soybeans is the sizing process, the soybeans are sized and pre-cleaned with a sizer/fan mill. This step is for sizing soybeans to the required specifications. Every variety of soybean comes in different sizes and shapes and the right screens and cleaning method are needed to do the job correctly. In order to do the sizing job correctly, The Seed Company has over 60 screens in stock in order to be prepared to handle any variety of soybeans at any given time.

After sizing, soybeans flow through a spiral cleaner where splits and unspherical soybeans are removed. Unspherical soybeans are oval shaped and irregular shaped soybeans which are the result of immaturity or improper development. Such soybeans have lower nutritional value and inferior taste; and therefore, must be removed in order to provide a consistent product.
The Seed Company is one of only a few conditioning facilities in the United States with a color sorter. We have a Satake brand 80 channel pneumatic color sorter which can accurately remove off-colored soybeans. This is important to remove soybeans which have unclean seed coat as well soybeans with mosaic virus and other seed coat diseases. Immature soybeans with a green tint can easily be removed as well.
The last step in our soybean conditioning system is aspiration. We are one of few conditioning facilities with an aspirator. Aspirators act as giant vacuum cleaners which siphon off dust from the soybeans. This is a critical measure in providing clean, low bacteria grains to our valued customers - a very essential step in providing food grade soybeans. The greatest advantage of the aspirator is that it pre-clean soybeans effectively without inflicting damage to the soybeans' skin coat as gravity tables do. Aspirators also remove immature grains which are too light.

The Seed Company is equipped to package soybeans in a variety of ways as required by the customer. We have a tote filler to fill tote bags typically 2500 lbs. size or 1 Metric Ton. We have an automatic bagger to package 30kg or 60lbs. bags. We can even load bulk containers.
The Seed Company has a 3000 square foot chilled warehouse which is used
to house seed but can also be used to store grain if required. The chilled
warehouse stores grains at under 60 degrees farenheit (or approximately 15
degrees celcius).
The Seed Company is equipped with 3 warehouses to store
packaged soybeans and other supplies. We have a covered loading dock so that we
can keep containers shaded as we load to avoid extreme heat. Containers can be
insulated with special aluminum coated insulation sheets to protect soybeans
during summer months and for shipping to regions of higher
temperatures.
The Seed Company is equipped with various research equipment used to
analyze grains. An NIR (near infrared) analyzer is capable of making rapid
nutritional analyses of soybeans and other grains. The Moisture analyzers are
used for quick, accurate moisture analyses. We make certain that only
sufficiently dried grains are allowed in the facility. We also have a seed
counter to efficiently analyze seed size from lot samples.
In addition to soybeans, we often clean other specialty grains such as
garbonzo beans, azuki beans and other edible beans. Azuki beans shown below
being cleaned through the color sorter.
