My Alpacas

I have waited and wanted an Alpaca for what seemed like forever. Well finally a long awaited dream has come true. Pam is the great lady who allowed Onyx to come into my life. He is a black Huacaya Alpaca.

This is Onyx, he is so cute an adorable. He came out of the trailer and walked right up to me and blew lightly into my face. This is their greeting, I was in love. You can tell he was Pam's baby, he is so friendly. Everyone who has meet him so far love him and think he is so great. Not to say soft. He didn't have the bedding stuck to him when we met. I highly recommend Pam to anyone thinking of getting into alpacas.

Then there is Angie, Angie's story isn't as nice. I went to a sale, to look at ducks and chickens. There in the back pen laid Angie. She didn't want to get up as her eyes where matted shut. She was so thin. It was hard to watch them get her up and drag her to the ring to try and sell her. The guy selling her said she had been to a vet and had pink eye and they had treated it. Well he thought she was worth far more then any one there so he no-sale'd her. I went back into the pens and made a deal with him. I pointed out her condition and pressured to know the vet. Well there was no vet, he had given her a shot himself and figured that was good. So I get her bought and brought her home. I worked on cleaning her up as she had animal fecal imbedded in her fiber. I worked on getting her eyes open the whole next day. When I finally got them open, I was shocked to see one was solid blue with some red and green. I was so upset. So I was on the phone first thing Monday morning calling my vet. Then in the car we go to the vets. A few hours and a sack full of meds later we were on our way home. My vet put dyes in her eyes to see the wounds and how bad they where. I was so happy to hear she will be able to see out of that eye some. Once the wound heals and the scar shrinks, she should be able to see around it some. The other eye is going to be 100 percent good, yea I had her checked for and wormed, she was checked all over and I was told that once she heals and gains some weight she would be fine. I cant wait for her fiber to have the heavenly soft feel that Onyx's has. As her's feels almost rough at this time and looks burnt.

Angie is 6 months old and has had at least 5 owners that I know of. I don't understand how someone could do this to such a sweet and cute baby. I warn you the photo can be hard to look at as it was taken the day I brought her home.

Her halter had been on long enough she has halter marks on her face. How do you do that to some thing so young.

The next photo is one week later. That is where we are at this time. She now can see and trots away from me when she sees me coming. I commented to my vet as she gave me the meds with how to use them, that after all the doctoring, she wouldn't love me. She laughed at me and said probably not. She does seem thankful though.

You can see the halter marks, also look and you can see the blue still in the bad eye. See the bad looking fiber, and skin. But look into that eye and see the sweet, intelligent, gentle soul. How could someone be so cruel. I am now starting to see the little mischievous imp that is now known as Angie. Well that's it for now stop back soon to see the changes in Angie.
