A noted Washington, D.C., public interest law firm says it plans to file a lawsuit today against the government of Iraq for that nation's alleged involvement in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City.

According to officials familiar with the suit, the legal watchdog organization Judicial Watch, along with local Oklahoma City attorney Mike Johnson, will file the suit in federal court in Washington.

Charles Key, former member of the Oklahoma legislature and a primary member of the Oklahoma Bombing Investigation Committee, told WorldNetDaily last night that the suit had been in "a holding pattern" for some time.

The lawsuit "holds Iraq responsible for the OKC bombing," he said, adding that the OKC bombing committee "was also involved" in the suit. He declined to provide further details.

Johnson could not be reached for comment.

Larry Klayman, chairman and lead counsel of Judicial Watch, said the evidence against Iraq is strong.

"It's time that someone took action against Iraq. Talk is cheap," Klayman told WorldNetDaily, adding that Judicial Watch would be "developing more evidence" against Baghdad later.

The Murrah building was partially destroyed April 19, 1995, killing 168 people. Army veteran Timothy McVeigh was executed June 11, 2001, for his role in the bombing. His accomplice, Terry Nichols, could face a similar fate in Oklahoma.

The OKC bombing committee, along with former NBC affiliate reporter Jayna Davis, have long asserted there was a Middle East connection to the OKC bombing.

Davis took her evidence – which she says includes hundreds of court records, 24 sworn witness statements and reports from law enforcement, intelligence and terror experts – to the FBI, which refused even to accept the material – a fact the FBI has confirmed.

David says her evidence points to a Middle East terrorist cell in operation only blocks from the federal building, and maintains that an Iraqi national who formerly served in Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard was in contact with McVeigh the day of the bombing.

That suspect, she alleges, arrived at the crime scene in a Ryder truck moments before the blast and sped away in a brown Chevrolet pickup truck immediately after.

Clinton impeachment prosecutor David Schippers, who has examined Davis's evidence dossiers, told WND that he was "thoroughly convinced that there was a dead-bang Middle Eastern connection in the Oklahoma City bombing."

And U.S. News & World Report reported last year that top Defense Department officials believe Timothy McVeigh, executed for his role in the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building, was an Iraqi agent.
