Substrates:

If ever a topic is like opening a can of worms this one is it. So with that in mind I will try to keep this simple.

Many tanks have been run successfully for years without any substrate at all.  But for many they look ugly, or simply unnatural.  I personally do not like the looks of a bare bottom tank.  At the least it should have a light dusting of sand if only Just enough to cover the glass from view in my opinion.  That being said I feel that the best substrate is the same special grade reef flor that I use for Man Made Live Rock.  With a little of the finer sand tossed in to make it look even better.

If you would like to jump on the DSB bandwagon, go right ahead just read up on what your getting yourself into.  Or if you would like to revert to using a straight Berlin approach, again go ahead.
