About the Artist

This sampling of Don's portfolio reprsents only a few of the 150
sculptures he has created and designed over the last 15 years. His
carvings are in private collections from Minnesota to Missouri and
Michigan to Colorado. They span the wildlife gamet from songbirds
to American game animals.

Don's technical ability and attention to detail are excellent while
still imparting his personal style to each and every creation. This
combination results in unique designs of premier craftsmanship meant
to be displayed for years. One of his pieces, "Wapiti", is mentioned
in the June 6,1999, issue of "Log Home Living". It is part of an article
featuring Joe and Linda Cookman's vacation home near Vail, Colorado. See
a photo of this large Elk on page 70.

Although wildlife has been a primary subject matter, Don has created
inspirational pieces, noteably "Baggot Street", a large sculpture on
display and created for the grand opening of a multimillion dollar
expansion of the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.
This commissioned piece took over a year to complete and is an excellent
example of the scope of his creative process.
A self-taught artist and lifetime environmentalist, Don is most at
home in the woods of Iowa and Minnesota. He receives inspiration and
rejuvination from the beauty and serenity of wildlife in it's own setting.
