WHAT WILL YOU BE INVESTING IN DURING THE NEW YEAR?
From time to time I read about the investment tips that are found in articles in the newspaper or magazines. I hear people remark that they should have invested in this company or bought some shares when such and such a company was started. Then they say, if I had only known or could see into the future, I could have made a lot of money.
I want to talk with you about investments from a different perspective. There is a company that many of us have heard about. Any person can be a part of it, whether they are rich or poor. It is the company of the people of heaven. How do you and I invest in that company? We can make an investment only when we know the owner personally! Jesus Christ is the head of this company in all glory, honor and power!
When I think of heavenly investments, I think of a statement by the head of this company, which is a paraphrase of Matthew 6:19-21. “Do not lay up (invest) your treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, where thieves can break in and steal; but lay up (invest) for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is (or investments are) there will your heart be also.”
Here is an investment tip for the New Year. You have 365 shares of time to invest in during 2014. Take "Time to read the Bible!" Did you know that on the average when the Bible is read at pulpit rate?
- It takes 70 hours and 40 minutes to read the Bible.
- It takes 52 hours and 20 minutes to read the Old Testament.
- It takes 18 hours and 20 minutes to read the New Testament
- In the Old Testament the Psalms take the longest to read: 4 hours and 28 minutes.
- In the New Testament the Gospel of Luke takes 2 hours and 43 minutes.
That is about 15-20 minutes a day to read the Bible through in one year.
It is an investment you will never ever regret, if you are serious about learning how to invest in heavenly treasures in this New Year.
