Liberty Cap Liberty Cap, at Mammoth Hot Springs, is the corpse of extinct thermal vent. It is 37 feet tall.
Palette Spring features a travertine deposit developed on steep slope. Located at Mammoth Hot Springs. Palette Spring
Minerva Terrace Minerva Terrace is charateristic of hot spring deposits that originate on relatively flat ground. One can see it at Mammoth Hot Springs.
Obsidian Cliff was hardly what I expected. Known more commonly as volcanic glass, obsidian is normally thought of as being black in color with a glassy luster. This obsidian was derived from granitic magma, as opposed to basaltic magma,...which largely accounts for the different appearance. About midway along the road between Mammoth and Norris. Obsidian Cliff
Roaring Mountain Roaring Mountain doesn't roar like it used to in the 1800's, but it does emit a respectable hiss. Just north of Norris Geyser Basin
