FOX
County in Iowa (1851)

When the western half of Iowa was organized in 1851 Fox County came into being. It was named after a tribe of Indians that lived in this area. The Iowa Legislature changed the name to Calhoun at the request of a friend of former Vice President John Calhoun who did not like the name Fox.
