COOK
County in Iowa (1836 - 1838)

COOK County was the original name for Scott County but it did not retain that name for long. While it was Cook County, it was larger than our present day Scott County, extending farther up the Mississippi River. Established in 1836, it was abolished in 1838 and became Scott County with its present day boundaries. Iowa became a state in 1846.
