JOSEPH GALLOWAY
(5th Great-Grandpa)

Joseph served in the military as a soldier in the Revolutionary War 1779 - 1782. Joseph served in the Cumberland County Militia. His name appeared on a payroll in 1779 of a company that had seen service in 1779 in Penn's Valley. He was also in service in 1778 in the company of Lieutenant James Dickson. In 1782 he served in the 8th Batallion. This class was recruited chiefly in Derry Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. (Proof - Pennsylvania Archives, Series 5, Vol. 6, pp 337, 569.)
