Jack O'Leary began his calling career in 1961, at age 14, while in high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. He attended Callers School conducted by Red Bates, and was quickly accepted by both adult and teen age dancers through out New England. Jack continued calling while in college. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Minot, North Dakota. During his four-year stay in Minot, Jack became well known, calling for clubs in the Dakotas, Montana, Minnesota, and Canada. After completing his tour of duty, he returned to New England and continued calling regularly throughout the Northeast, while working as a Financial Services Manager in the banking industry in Connecticut. Jack was featured caller for the Montana State Convention, the National Singles Convention in Boston, and the Natural Bridge Festival in Virginia. He has called at several national and international conventions during his 45 years of calling. Jack continues to conduct two resort square dance weekends in the fall at East Hill Farm in Troy, New Hampshire.

Jack is owner and producer of the Silver Sounds record label and produces music for square and round dancing in a professionally equipped studio in his home. In 2006, Jack and his wife Carole moved to Nevada Iowa to be closer to Carole's family. Now retired from the banking business, Jack is able to spend more time in his recording studio, and continues to call for the square dancers of Central Iowa and surrounding areas.
