Some Backgound Information

My name is Heinz Blankenhagen. I was born in Petersburg, Nebraska in 1936. I have been a ham since 1954, starting out as a novice and now holding an extra class license. My first call sign was WNØYTQ.  Earned my General Class license soon afterward and became WØYTQ.  I entered the Army in 1956 and served most of my time in the military stationed in Germany where I had the call sign DL4AT.  After leaving the Army in 1958 I went to work for Collins Radio Company, where I remained until my retirement in 1992.  I had been inactive for many years prior to my retirement. However since retiring I have gone a little overboard. My main interests are DXing,  contesting and of course building antennas. I now live on a farm with my XYL, Karin KØEGQ, near Martelle, Iowa. In addition to the ham radio hobby I have an interest in astronomy, telescope building, bicycling, bicycle building, computers, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, racquetball, camping and fishing.
