Poi Verifier II |
What Does 'POI Verifier II' Do?NEW The Garmin nuvi 350 and 360 GPS do not correctly display line breaks which are imbedded in Custom POI files. This is true for both the 'Name' and 'Comment' field of the POI files. Line breaks in the 'Name' field will display a diamond in the Custom POI list screen and will not display a line break at all on the POI Info page. A line break in the 'Comment' field does nothing. When the 'Modify......' check box is selected, this program removes line breaks from the 'Name' field and changes the line break in the 'Comments' field to display correctly on these two GPS units. But before this can be done, the POI has to conform to Garmin's required POI file structure. Since this is a problem with so many POI files, the program had to be designed to first correct and/or notify the user of errors in the file. This program can be used to check your Custom POI files before uploading. What it does is:
1. Removes text
headers from the beginning of the POI file.
2.
Removes leading and ending spaces on each field.
3. Removes quotes from the Longitude and Latitude entries.
4. Removes quotes from fields 3 and 4.
5. Removes commas from the beginning and ending of POI fields
when enclosed in quotes.
6. Checks the Longitude and Latitude values against user
selectable parameters of '48 States', 'US 50 States, Canada, PR,
and VI',
or 'World' parameters.
7. Removes all fields over 4.
8. Fills empty fields 3 and 4 with a space.
9.
Gives the option to remove '@' and numbers from the file
name to eliminate the alert if it isn't desired.
10. Gives the option to check for duplicate entries in the POI file.
11. Gives the option to modify the POI file to
correctly display line breaks in the nuvi.
12. Gives the option to remove all linebreaks from fields 3 and 4. 13. Gives the option to create a file of only the POIs in the selected state. 14. Gives the option to convert the nuvi 350/360 linebreaks to standard linebreaks. 15. Gives the option to swap the longitude and latitude coordinates. 16. Gives the option to 'Selectively' remove duplicate POIs. 17. Gives the option to convert odd character count to even in field 3. 18. Gives the option to mass convert Degree coordinates to Decimal Coordinates.
