An Evening of Laughter, Joy, and Praise for the Lord
|
On Saturday, October 6 at 6:00 p.m., the community enjoyed a night of entertainment at the church. The Community Choir, under the direction of Pastor Kirk Statler, sang a medley entitled “In the Name of Jesus.” This community group of ten harmonious voices set the tone for this joyous event. Comedian Jason Taylor, part-time youth director from Pella, held the crowd in laughter as he read his poetry reflecting life. Favorites included “The Story,” “Grandma,” and “Questions.” The Men’s Interfaith Chorus of 14 voices, an accompanist, and director sang 11 selections which varied from toe-tapping, lively gospel to music of reflection and praise. This group from the Grundy Center area travels the state to bring the message of God’s love through music. Their closing song, “The Solid Rock,” seemed their theme of the good works they do. The donation of their time and talent was an inspiration. Bob Caswell, on guitar, sang “Bring the Rain” while a free-will offering was collected. Pastor Kirk Statler closed the evening with “The Anchor Holds” reminding all of the wonders of faith. |
