“Choosing A Leader” “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… Like it or not, election time is upon us again, with all its commercials, billboards and yard signs. Now, rest assured, I’m not going to dare venture into trying to tell you how to vote – that’s your God-given and hard-fought privilege. Though not a “major” election year, when the dust settles, the votes will have been cast, totals tallied and leaders appointed (or reappointed) – based solely on the democratic principle of “the majority rules,” whether we agree with the outcome or not. How fortunate we each are that, unlike a political election in which the “the majority rules,” each of us is given the opportunity to select our personal leader each day. In the spiritual “election” deep within our hearts, our choice will stand no matter what others may decide. Each day we choose the one we will follow in life, and it makes no difference what anyone else thinks…the choice is ours. With this great freedom granted to us by our Loving & Perfect Heavenly Father comes great responsibility, though, for while the choice is ours, the results of that choice are also ours. When the Day comes for all accounts to be settled, it will make no difference what choice our friends, family or co-workers made as our account is settled; only what choice we made will matter as the “votes” are tallied. In this election season, I challenge you to evaluate carefully whom you are “voting” for each and every day (and with the entirety of your life). I pray that you will choose wisely…courageously…consistently…to select the Leader who makes all the difference in life – both now and forevermore! – Pastor Kirk |
