This is a science-supportive web site, as such, it contributes, in however

small a way, to the advancement of science.

I cannot, in good conscience, support that achievement in a country that

advocates the use of torture, has thrown out habeas corpus, and

convicts without a chance to refute evidence.

Therefore, this web site will not be republished until the U.S.

government reverts to accepted lawful practices.

After 76,000 visits to this web site, I consider this a minor tragedy

lost among millions of major tragedies brought about

by the current administration in Washington, D.C.

The above was posted on 10/6/06, shortly after the Military Commissions

Act was passed. On June 12, 2008, the Supreme Court rejected the

administrations arguments to refuse habeas corpus rights to those

persons it deemed appropriate. This ruling should also effectively limit

their ability to torture by throwing more light on the process.
