Nascar Racing

Daytona 500

Daytona,FL.

Awesome Bill
This is a photo of my racing hero Bill Elliott in his Ford being passed by three (note3) Chevrolets. It took 3 of them to get around "Awesome Bill from Dawsonville" in Sundays Daytona 500. At any rate Bill proved he is not a has been in Nascar by spending the whole afternoon in the top 5 in the race so many drivers covet. Incidently Bill was leading the race when these three Hindricks Motorsports drivers teamed up to pass him. Bill lead for quit a number of laps.

This ladies and gentlemen this is the under side of Dale Earnhardt's car during a very unnerving incident with Jeff Gordon. Dale was unhurt and, believe it or not, got back in the car to finish the race. Jeff got through the mess unscathed and went on to win. Young Gordon is the youngest ever winner of the Daytona 500.

Goodwrench 400

Rockingham,NC

Sundays running of the Goodwrench 400 went quite smoothly for Jeff Gordon. He finished in first place for the second win in as many races in the 1997 Winston Cup series. Jeff spent most of the day in the top five bidding his time until the last few laps when he took the lead and held it to the finish.
My favorite driver Bill Elliott did a very good job in Sundays race starting in 43rd with a past champions provisional to get into the race due to difficulty in qualifying. He worked his way into the top five for most of the race and finished in 22nd.

PRIMESTAR 500

Atlanta,Ga.

The Primestar 500 was an exciting race with several crashes. All involved in incidents came out in good shape. The photos are of a crash involving #41 , the Kodiak sponsored car driven by Steve Grisom and the Smokin Joes #23. The #41 came out very badly

beaten laying on it's top in the middle of the track with the back 1/2 of the car missing from a hard hit with the inside wall. Grisom lost control while trying to avoid #23 which was already spinning. #41
hit the wall so hard that nascar offcials required the wall to be

repaired before allowing the race to continue. After an hour delay to repair the wall Dale Jarrett #88 went on to win. Jarrett led the majority of the race. His car seemed to be setup perfect for the race today.
The points leader to this point in time,Jeff Gordon, Exploded his engine early in the race leaving himself in the fourth place in the points race. My Hero Bill Elliott also had engine problems which left him with his first DNF of the year.
