Van Buren Mutual Insurance was established in the Fall of 1890 as
Farmers' Mutual Insurance Company, Pittsburg Iowa
The annual
statement of Sept. 6 1898 was addressed to "The Membership of THE
SOUTHERN VAN BUREN COUNTY MUTUAL PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION. At that
time there was already a farm mutual insurance company servicing
Van Buren county north of the Des Moines River. At a special meeting
in July of 1953, fifty-five years later, the membership voted to
change the company's name to Van Buren Mutual Insurance Association.
Burton Eads of rural Milton is Board President.
Kevin Brown of rural Stockport is Vice President.
Mark Woodruff of Keosauqua is Secretary/Manager.
