Plow - This very small settlement was the most difficult of all for me to find. Mott, in his book Abandoned Towns and Post Offices, says there was a hamlet post office that served the area in the 1860's but its exact location has been lost. While searching in the State Historical Library in Des Moines I was startled to find a map published by Colton and Company, that shows its location to be SW/SW Sec. 30-87-26. The hamlet was in all probability named for the most important of the farm implements required to cultivate this rich farmland.
