CITY COUNCIL MEETING
January 25, 2001
Audience Hall
You are standing within the grand audience chamber in Ragnarok Palace. At the
north end of the chamber sit two large crystal thrones. Extending from the
thrones to the doorway to the south is a plush red carpet, where those
wishing audience may approach the thrones. The crystal drawbridge to the
south is down, and the gates are open, allowing egress from the palace.
There are three obvious exits: south, exit and leave.
Nalina the Lady of Storms (good).
Stalkmon has left club 29 {sniff} (lifegiver).
Tamzilla grumbles unhappily. (hellspawn).
Myrashka changed his title (demonic).
Darien is mostly here (nasty).
Zhen again (defiler).
Gregory wastes sp (good).
Tasselhoff the dithering idiot!.! (sentinel).
Arklow the Piper at the Gates of Dawn (good).
A court herald.
Kaz arrives.
Crafty says: Good evening to all of you.
Myst arrives.
Crafty says: First I want to remind everyone of how we're going to conduct the
meeting.
Darien scoots into Myrashka's lap.
Crafty says: I'll be leading the meeting on behalf of the City Council. The
entire CC is present here this evening.
Crafty says: Please keep all emotes and talking to a minimum.
Tamzilla bows gracefully.
Arklow cheers excitedly!
Tasselhoff grins evilly.
Crafty says: If you have a question or a comment, please raise your hand and
I'll recognize you.
Crafty says: We will have a special guest and announcement this evening but
first we'd like to do talk about other things.
Nalina giggles.
Crafty says: It's been quite a busy time here at Ragnarok.
Arklow blinks.
Crafty says: It's also been a week since Tasha and X were promoted and we'd
like to know what you all think about the changes so far.
Gypsie arrives.
Spellbinder arrives.
Crafty says: Who'd like to start?
Vicious arrives.
Crafty says: No one has anything to say?
Myst raises his hand.
Stalkmon arrives.
Nalina shrugs helplessly.
Gypsie shrugs helplessly.

Crafty says: Myst, you may have the floor
Myst says: Well, all I have to say is that for coincidence or whatever
reason...
Myst says: Player/hero/wiz participation has increased a LOT since promotion
Myst says: I'd just like to say that is great if anyone has any reason to
attribute to this windfall
Myst says: That's all I have to say. Thank you.
Gypsie claps.
Tasselhoff raises hand.
Arklow smirks.
Crafty says: I agree, it has been wonderful to see so many people on.
Crafty says: Tasselhoff, you may have the floor.
Tasselhoff stands up.

Tasselhoff rumbles: I just wanted to express my happiness wrought by all the
changes tasha and x are doing.. escpecially the work on the guilds.

Crafty says: I would like to say that we do have many newbies on right now.
Crafty says: Whether that is because of the purge and people are starting old
characters again, I'm not sure.
Vicious grins evilly.
Crafty says: But we do need to do our best to greet them. Find out if they're
alts later.
Crafty says: First greet them and make them feel welcome. That will go a long
way in making this a friendly place to be.
Crafty says: Also, please don't be afraid to say anything positive or negative
about the changes in this meeting.
Crafty says: We have requested the wizards not be present so that all might
talk freely.
Wanderer says: i would like to say that i was brought into the game two weeks
ago by gypsie and i really like the people here

exceptionally friendly and helpful?
Spellbinder crackles: I too am a gypsie convert. Thanks to Tass for all the
initial help.
Gypsie says: Now all I have to do is recruit him to Blackstone

Nalina rolls her eyes in disbelief.
Wanderer says: myst has helped me out a few times, and there were some others
but i can't recall
Stalkmon coughs noisily.
Tasselhoff grins evilly.
Wanderer says: the chat channel in general is very good, people there will
help you get into the game easily

Zhen rumbles: How do we get the wizards to add another dimension the their
quests
Zhen rumbles: to make another possibility... Evil quest
Gypsie nogs noggingly.
Zhen rumbles: like destroy evidence or something
Tasselhoff agrees with Zhen.

Zhen rumbles: that is all
Crafty says: Do you mean to make an entirely new quest or just add something
to an existing one?
Stalkmon shakes her head.
Gypsie raise hand
Audric rumbles: Excellent idea.
Zhen rumbles: just make it optional... save the town, destroy the town
Nalina raises her hand.

Arklow points his finger at Nalina.
Crafty says: We can certainly take that to the wizard community and see what
they have to say. We'll get back to you on that, okay?
Zhen rumbles: cool
Crafty says: Gypsie you may have the floor
Gypsie stands up.
Azazel arrives.
Gypsie says: I would like to add just a little to what zhen had said
Gypsie says: I was a part of that conversation the other day, and Stoney had
mentioned to me that the Quest to save the Dragons, can be finished by
killing all of the dragons instead of the orcs
Gypsie says: we where all thinking that it would be a little more fun to have
multiple endings to quests, so that role play for evil char. could be
maintained even though we are questing
Arklow thinks deeply.
Myrashka raises his hand
Wanderer nods agreeingly.
Vicious nods solemnly.

Gypsie says: I have not personally done that quest, so I do not know if that
is true or not, but if that where possible in any quest, it would be very
nice
Crafty says: If that is the case, and I'm really not able to say, then that
would be in the description of the quest itself.
Audric rumbles: Although I haven't really run across it yet, it would bite the
big one to lose a hard-earned alignment for the simple fact that you have
to complete a quest.
Nalina rolls her eyes in disbelief.
Gypsie says: that has been my battle cry the whole time
Stalkmon shakes her head.
Wanderer nods in agreeance.
Arklow says: Wait to be recognized before speaking.
Gypsie says: I try to keep my alighnment as demoniuc, but durring the spheres
quest, everything is as bad as I am, so I come out saintly
Crafty says: That is something that we'll really have to taken to the wizards
but I'll make sure and ask.
Gypsie says: I guess that it will be up to the individual wiz
Gypsie says: one more thing

Gypsie says: I want to thank all of you for making this a wonderful place to
live. I spend every free moment here, as Wanderer and Spellbinder can

Nalina says: i believe there is a reason for the questing flag, so that your
leaders know why you're getting saintly or demonic

Nalina says: and i don't believe it's right to meddle with a quest a wizard
has worked so hard to create the way he or she invisioned it

Crafty says: I was wondering when that question would come up.

Crafty says: At the time of the election, the latest one, 2 new player reps
were elected.
Nalina nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Following that time, Kaz levelled.
Zhen chuckles at kaz.
Crafty says: There is no rule that states that that is not allowed.
Nalina raises her hand.
Crafty says: Unfortunately, that means that we currently have 3 hero reps
Crafty says: Due to the fact that it was not expressly stated that a player
rep must remain a player
Crafty says: Tasha okayed it. Tam and I are very happy to welcome Kaz to the
Hero rank.
Crafty says: In the future, we believe that players will be asked to agree to
remain a player during their service.
Crafty says: The City Council is something that changes each term.
Crafty says: This is something that hasn't happened before, now we'll know how
to handle it in the future.
Crafty says: Does that answer your question Nalina?
Nalina says: not really
Crafty says: Okay, how else can I help you?
Nalina says: i've seen players that had to resign because they levelled
Gypsie boggles at the concept.
Myrashka nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Could you give me an example?
Nalina says: this would be a negative thing the wizzie have done
Myrashka says: excuse me for speaking out of term, but if my recollection is
correct, traditional states that player reps stay players until the next
term
Crafty says: Would it be possible to table this discussion until the end of
the meeting when we call the wizards in? Tasha will be able to answer
this more completely than I can.
Kaz says: Would you rather I resigned?
Nalina says: exactly, help cc says 2 player, 2 heroes
Myrashka says: also, for the record, I was not under the impression that Tasha
was okay with Kaz's advancement - she didnt' necessarily oppose it, but
she didn't explicitly approve it.

Myrashka says: first, allow me to be the first the thank this activist council
for holding this meeting and allowing an opportunity for your
constituents to voice their opinions
Myrashka says: while the council exists by grace, it is important to utilize
our voice actively
Myrashka says: second, i would like to address the issue of multiple quest
endings
Myrashka says: while i must concur with my fellow players that such a twist on
quests would indeed add some intrigue to the current make up of the
realm, I must stress
Myrashka says: excuse me - muting chatty channels;)
Myrashka says: so, to continue, i must stress that such a request should
probably be made to individual wizards...
Myrashka says: in so as much as we would like to further our role-playing
endevours - wizards are the visionaries of this realm and we should
respect their vision...

such thing as pure evil ;)

Myrashka says: Kaz, I am not under the thought that you should resign (in
response to your earlier question)...your right to advance I believe is
protected under current rules...
Myrashka says: I do implore to the council that they consider these impacts
for future terms however and consider keeping a balance of player vs hero
representatives...
Myrashka says: I am sure that Representative Kaz will take special care to
continue to represent the players who originally elected him...special
care
Myrashka nods quickly to Kaz.
Kaz says: Gosh, I'm really sorry. I was under the impression that this was a
game played for fun. I totally lost all feeling for the three years I
was a player the instant I heroed.
Crafty says: We have talked a great deal about this not only between us, but
also with Tasha. There are other developments that I'm not able to
discuss at this time that would influence this discussion.

Azazel says: I just wanted to say, I've never really mudded anywhere before
this place. Audric showed me this joint, and I must say, it's a lot more
fun and way more than what I expected it to be like. Great people here, a
great atmosphere Tasselhoff closes his eyes briefly in concentration.

Myst says: I guess my proposition to the powers that be would be to expand the
council to 5...
Myst says: The 5th to be a lvl 40+ player (ie Tamzilla) and vote in a new
player
Myst says: It seems that as there are more 40+ players, that they may have an
interest to be expressed and shared with all

Myst says: Also, they tend to be the clan leaders as well, and surely would
have some input
Myst says: That's just my thought. That way our esteemed council could stay
the way it is, simply electing a new player into the ranks.

counterparts, wants to alienate a fellow cc member. I understand that
you are concerned about this however, we were as well.
Crafty says: For that reason, I would ask that we hold this discussion until
Tasha is present.

Zhen rumbles: my comment about the quests... is just a suggestion for wizards
to maybe make additional endings and think about this in the future

Gypsie says: When we had this idea of multi-ending quests, it was just an
idea, only an idea. We don't want to see the old quests changed,
considering alot of the quests where made by wizzes that don't come
around anymore

Gypsie says: We only wanted the current and future wizzes to take this request
into consideration, what they do with it from there is tottally up to
them

Audric rumbles: There appears to be too much indecision here. Maybe it's just
my crazy eyes, but it seems like we have some kind of insane democracy
going on here, where the cc is just a little bridge that everyone tries
to cross over to ge

Audric rumbles: I observed and caught snicker, eyes rolled in disbelief, and
so on and so forth. I think that's wrong and that if someone wants to get
something off, they should just raise their hand and say so. Also, I

no ideas myself, but something different for sure.

Crafty says: Our purpose is to be a bridge from the wizard community to the
players and heroes.
Audric rumbles: Perhaps that's the problem. :)
Crafty says: As for the meetings, I personally feel that they run quite
smoothly.

Crafty says: We do ask that emotes and comments be kept quiet during the
meeting, but it does happen occasionally.
Audric rumbles: But that's not what I mean. I really feel something should be
done differently and someone (the cc and wizards) should at least think
about it a little bit instead of automatically dismissing it.
Crafty says: Things are done that are suggested here at the meetings.
Crafty says: At a few of the past meetings, people mentioned that lag was
getting out of control

Audric rumbles: Yes, things get done, but I still think, after sitting here
and politely watching this meeting, that things still need to be a bit
more clear...this is a bad idea, but it's still something that should be
mulled over,

Crafty says: Ragnarok, is not a democracy.
Audric rumbles: I don't think it's quite fair for decisions to be made on that
basis. The lag problem, that's one that we all can understand and agree
with, so that's pretty much out of the question.
Audric rumbles: I see.
Crafty says: Sure, we could vote on the quest idea, however, we don't do the
coding.
Crafty says: None of us here do.
Audric laughs hysterically.
Crafty says: All of the coding is done on a purely volunteer basis.
Audric rumbles: I'm suggesting that you do what you were elected for and relay
this idea to the wizards, that's all.

Crafty says: The wizards, the higher levelled ones, are briefed by us after
each meeting.
Crafty says: They are all given a copy of the log of the meeting.

wizards?

idea here or anywhere should ever be squashed, ingored or belittled...

tpart - there have been a few impromptu emotions which in my opinion do

the council openly recommending the quest ideea (which I htink is a good

just that...and I hope I can implore my fellow friends to all respect
each other and their opinions by keeping things just that - friendly,

support Tasha in her duties in whatever way she might deem appropriate

only that it seemed to be leaning towards that idea. But, you proved the
point that all wizards are volunteers on the issues presented

Gregory says: I'd just like to say that I don't see a major imbalance with
more heros on the CC.
Gregory says: Most heros have achieved the rank because of their experience
playing this MUD.
Gregory says: The CC is designed to not only present Ideas to the wizards, but
also to give feedback on the playability of the MUD.
Gregory says: I believe that of all the non-wizzes, Heros are the most
qualified to do that.
Gregory says: Additionally, it's not like heros' don't help newbies... they
are usually the first line that hears a newbie's complaints/opinions.
Gregory says: As a player who has never been a hero or a wiz, I am perfectly
happy being represented by someone who knows the game better.

difference between hero's and players? Hero's have been here longer,
wield bigger weapons, and can take down bigger Mobs.

is, that they can make a new area, and can see all the chat channells,
that is it, when it comes right down to it

Tasha says: The whole point of the 2 and 2 thing is so that the council
represents to the wizards the viewpoint off -all- the players. This is
very important to us, as the fresh perspective is unique and often very
different than a older h

Gypsie says: I may be way off base, but I think that the CC should be voted
evenly, yes, but just because a player hero's doesn't mean that he is no
longer a player
Tasha says: This particular council is an aberation - but i was reluctant to
change it amist the rest of the changes that were taking place. I
thougth it would be a good stability point whiel the mud was re-arranging
things.
Tamzilla nods.
Tasha shrugs helplessly.
Audric rumbles: thanks. All I see is that in this respect, the old ways are
good because, yes, heroes are more experienced.
Audric rumbles: But players also bring fresh minds to the mud

Audric rumbles: Despite the fact that CC members have no direct control, and
merely relay ideas to the wizards, it still help to have a mixture of
experienced and not-so-experienced, I believe.
Tasha says: It's also sometimes difficult finding a council that is as
positive and open as this one :)
Audric rumbles: But even with that opinion, I still think that nothing could
be harmed by allowing a council member to become a hero.

sudden more experienced. It's merely a title.
