CITY COUNCIL MEETING
December 05, 2000
Audience Hall
You are standing within the grand audience chamber in Ragnarok Palace. At the
north end of the chamber sit two large crystal thrones. Extending from the
thrones to the doorway to the south is a plush red carpet, where those
wishing audience may approach the thrones. The crystal drawbridge to the
south is down, and the gates are open, allowing egress from the palace.
There are three obvious exits: south, exit and leave.
X - Knight of the Woeful Countenance (quixotic).
Kaz is Amharc Ar Machnamh (evil).
Cortez Ya!!!!, I bad (devilkin).
Stile is taking it 1 room at a time... (Nefarious).
Nalina the Lady of the Hart (saintly).
Wulfgar the Lord of the Hart (nice).
Tamzilla says: mmm....dirty candycane... (hellspawn).
Rpglord will never eat pudding again... (demonchild).
Arklow says "Gimme dem Dimiecrats!" (good).
A court herald.
Crafty says: Good evening all. On behalf of the Ragnarok City Council I call
this meeting to order.
Pany arrives.
Crafty says: As many of you already know, we ask that you keep emotes and
talking to a minimum during the meeting.
Crafty says: I will be leading the meeting this evening. If you would like to
be recognized, please raise your hand and I'll call on you in the order
raised.
Crafty says: First of all, Tamzilla and I would like to welcome our 2 new
player representatives.
Myst arrives.
Crafty says: We truly feel that Arklow and Kaz will make wonderful additions
to you Council.
Crafty says: At our last meeting there was some concern shared about players
harassing other players.
Crafty says: A number of people wanted a system to log the abuses for the law
to review.
Tasha drops down from the clear blue skye.
Crafty says: We do have some news to share with you on that front. X has been
working on an ability to go into his office and capture channels thereby
logging the abuses for his review.
Scarpetta arrives.
Crafty says: Of course there are some additional items that need to be
reviewed and worked on before it is available to the populace.
Crafty says: We did however want you all to be aware that something is in the
works and we are working on it.
X nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Next, Tasha has informed us of a new item in the help menu.
Crafty says: Tasha, would you like to share it with everyone?
Tasha says: you should be able to type help for 'IM, ICQ, multiplaying, idle
and triggers'
Tasha says: should be pretty straightfoward - and some of them a long time in
coming
Tamzilla crackles: Awesome.
Terayon soars in.
Scarpetta says: cool..
X raises a hand.
Rpglord nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Great, we will all make sure to check it out.
Tasha says: I find it easier to state them, if we can - instead of people not
knowing and being upset.
Tasha smiles happily.
Crafty says: Yes, X, you may take the floor
X smiles happily.
X says: Not to put too fine a point on how important it is to read the
rules...
X says: Igorance is not an excuse or reason to get away with breaking said
laws.
X says: Take..oh..Cortez here for example.
X pats Cortez on the back.
Cortez grins devilishly.
X says: We were doing a reboot, waiting for everone to stash their
things...but our buddy here was dragging his feet.
X says: Turns out he was on autopilot while at dinner, keeping unidle due to
skill triggers set up.
X says: As you can read, triggers are fine, as long as yer at the keyboard. If
you're going to step away, even for a minute, turn em off.
X says: K, Cortez?
X licks Cortez.
Pany raises his hand.
Cortez stands up.
Cortez bows to x.
X mutters: I summon candycane !
Cortez sits down.
X gives candy to Cortez.
X thanks you profusely.
Crafty says: Pany you may have the floor
Cortez licks a delicious peppermint candycane!
Pany thanks you profusely.
Pany rumbles: Okie, pretty simple... Just wanted to say mebbe help ICQ and
help IM be lowercase too :>
Tasha grins evilly.
Pany grins evilly.
Tasha nods solemnly.
Tasha says: done

Tamzilla grins mischievously.

Crafty says: Thanks Pany. Does anyone have anything to discuss?
Arklow pats Pany on the back.
Pany scratches his head.
Pany raises his hand.
Crafty says: I want to remind everyone that all of the City Council logs are

Crafty says: Many topics were brought up at the last meeting and we were
wondering how people were feeling about them now.
Crafty says: One of the topics raised last meeting was experience stealing.
Has anyone had that happen to them since then?
Rpglord shakes his head.

Pany shakes his head.
Tamzilla shakes her head.
Crafty says: Great, good to hear. Another concern was player harassment. How
do you all feel that has been going?
Rpglord raises his hand.
Scarpetta sits down.
Crafty says: Rpglord, you may take the floor
Rpglord stands up.
Rpglord crackles: Thank you, Crafty.
Crafty says: I'm sorry, may I say something really quick?
Rpglord crackles: It seems that player harassment is hardly a problem...go
ahead
Crafty says: Thanks, except for my harassment right this minute! Are there
any matters that we need the wizards for? If not, we'll let them get
back to business with our thanks for joining us.
Rpglord grins at you from far away.
Nalina ponders the situation.
Pany nods solemnly.
Pany raises his hand.
Crafty says: Okay, well then, thanks to the wizard community for joining us
and thank you especially to X for all the fun and festive holiday items
that continue to show up.
X chuckles politely.
Crafty says: I'm sorry, Pany, does this concern the wizards?
Kaz licks X.
Pany nods solemnly.
Pany rumbles: It needs their judgement, probably
Crafty says: Okay, Pany, you may take the floor
Pany smiles happily.
Rpglord sits down.
Pany thanks you profusely.
Pany stands up.
Pany rumbles: Okay, well, this addresses the post-level 40 issue
Pany rumbles: Attaining levels higher than level 40 is very time consuming
Pany rumbles: And takes a lot of commitment to continue playing
Pany rumbles: I think there should be better bonuses for attaining these
levels
Pany rumbles: I realize that stats cannot go any higher, but I am thinking of
higher hit rate/higher WC max
Pany rumbles: Its not right that me and mink should be on an equal level (or
close to)
Pany rumbles: Since he is 13 levels higher.
Pany sits down.
Pany turns to the wizards
Crafty says: Stile, X or Tasha would you like to comment?
Tasha says: umm ;)
Tasha says: Great question - but really Aedin or Larva would have to answer it

Crafty says: So would one of the three of you like to think on that and get

Tasha says: i'll mail them both the question;)

Rpglord crackles: As I was saying, I think that player harassment is no longer
a problem. It seems that our problem person" has left the MUD
permanetly.
Tasha says: we only had one?
Rpglord shrugs helplessly.

Crafty says: Good to hear. Please remember to let the sheriff's office know
if you have any problems.
Tasha wipes her hands clean. Problem solved:)

Wulfgar says: on a related note, sometimes the newbies that we are being asked
to help have been offered help and turned it down.
Wulfgar says: I think that sums it up.

Tasha says: most of the time, i've noticed alts try to decline help :)
Tamzilla nods.
Crafty says: Nalina, perhaps you should talk to X privately about this issue?

X says: That's an excelent idea.
Crafty says: Great. Are there any other topics to be discussed with our
wizards?

Tamzilla crackles: Recently, a hero came to me with a complaint that while
questing 2 seperate persons were going into that same area and working on
it. Yes, they had their questing flag on. This hero tried to send tells
to the other 2 but
Aedin appears amidst a cloud of smoke, looking confused.
Tamzilla crackles: they were ignored (darn mud client)
Crafty says: Tam, do you know what quest they were working on?
Tamzilla crackles: spheres
Tamzilla crackles: I was hoping elwing would be on cuz this is kind of her
area. Mostly what I'm looking for here is a plan of action when this kind
of thing occurs
Crafty says: I would be willing to post a notice on the board, reminding
everyone of checking the who -q before entering an area
Ashlie raises her hand.
Crafty says: Ashlie you may have the floor
Ashlie crackles: While reminding people of who -q is a great idea, I just have
to point out it doesn't work most of the time....
Terayon nods solemnly.
Ashlie crackles: I've seen several occasions where there were 3 ppl working on
that quest, after being reminded that so and so was in there first with
the flag on
Crafty says: It is my understanding that the questing flag is simply a tool
for players.
Ashlie crackles: Other quests too, but that one has been bad lately ;)
Ashlie sits back down.
Crafty says: Unfortunately I don't believe that there is anything that the
sheriff's office or any wizard can do.
Crafty says: I believe that the only plan of action here is to kindly remind
the person/s that you entered the area first and hope that they are the
respectful kind that will then step out
Ashlie nods in agreement.
Crafty says: X, is there anything that the sheriff's office will do in this
type of case?
X says: If a player that is using the flag notices someone in the area without
the flag, and asking them to be respectful dosen't work, It may bear more
weight coming from me or a Deputy...
X says: But other than a verbal warning, it's up to the individual to play
nice.
Pany raises his hand.
Tamzilla nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Pany, you may take the floor
Pany stands up.
Pany rumbles: Is it possible to set a trigger at the entrance of a quest
realm, that if a person has their flag on and someone goes into that
realm, an alert is sent to the quester?
Scarpetta giggles.
Crafty says: I'm not sure that would be possible Pany. It's my understanding
that some areas are a quest secret as to the area. Am I correct in that?
Pany nods solemnly.
Wulfgar raises his hand.
Pany rumbles: The message would only be seen by the quester though
Crafty says: Still, it would be divulging quest area information. Do any of
the wizards have anything to comment on with this?
Aedin says: "No."
Aedin smiles happily.
X says: I do..
Kaz grins evilly.
Pany grins evilly.
Crafty says: X, you may have the floor
Aliena arrives.
Aliena sits down.
X says: The more code we have to impliment in order to account for troublesome
or selfish players, the more of a drag it is for the good players that
take time to be a part of the mud such as yourselves.
Aedin says: Not to mention the more of a drag it is for the people who have to
code it ;)
Arklow nods solemnly.
You smile happily.
X says: If they're troublesome in one area, chances are there's somewhere else
I can get my hands on them.
Kaz nods solemnly.
X says: So please report such actions to the dept, for a better playing
experience.
X sits down.
Tamzilla thanks X.
Crafty says: Very good point X. Wulfgar, you may take the floor.
Wulfgar says: what if the message worked like this: If a 2nd player tries to
set their questing flag to the same as another player, the 2nd player
gets a message that <player> is working on it, maybe you should try
later.
Wulfgar sits down.
X nods in agreement.
Ashlie raises her hand.
Stile says: The prob was players Ignoring the quest flag though wasn't it?
Kaz nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Ashlie, you may have the floor
Kaz says: If they don't care enough to look at the flag, they aren't going to
care if they get a message like that.
Ashlie crackles: Wulfgar, are you suggesting that two people cannot have the
same flag set, or that the second person is just warned?
Wulfgar says: more that the 2nd person is warned. I realize this won't help
in all situations, but might help a little.
Ashlie crackles: Just wondering because people have been known to work on
quests together and having 2 ppl with one flag is useful in those times.
Tamzilla nods.
Crafty says: This is something that we'll have to really talk to the wizards
about, could we update you all on this in the upcoming weeks?
Scarpetta nods solemnly.
Rpglord nods solemnly.
Crafty says: Great then, we'll thank the wizards for their time and bid them
adieu!

Crafty says: Great! Those of you that were with us at the last meeting were
tempted with an upcoming event sponsored by the cc.
Crafty says: We have been working hard since our last meeting and are ready to
announce the 1st Ragnarok City Council Scavenger Hunt.
Rpglord cheers excitedly!
Pany drools.
Crafty says: We will be holding 2 separate hunts, one for players and one for
heroes.
Aliena raises her hand.
Scarpetta says: cool..
Crafty says: Should these turn out as fun as we hope then we will hold them on
a regular basis.
Crafty says: Aliena, you may have the floor
Aliena says: Will they be announced on the board or do you have a time in mind
now?
Crafty says: I was just getting to that.
Crafty says: The hero level scavenger hunt will be held one week from tonite
at 7pm CST.

Crafty says: The player level hunt will also be held one week from tonite at
9pm CST

safe hunt?
Crafty says: The player level will be safe, Tam what about the hero level?
Tamzilla crackles: heroes will need to be eq'd..it wont all be killing, but
some of it will be

so they would be leading the next player level hunt, should there be one.
