Got Netflix? Or maybe you've bought into Wal-Mart's version of movies-by-mail. Those of us with only <gasp> over-the-air broadcast television get a few movies on the national network channels. And there's always the Blockbuster rental shop around the corner. Of course, cable subscribers and satellite dish owners get all those HBO-Cinemax-Starz-Encore-Lifetime-FX-Showtime channels where they can choose from millions of movies, right?!?!?

Well.... the issue still boils down to just what kind of movies appear in those venues. Have you ever wanted to watch something other than the latest exploding end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it disaster flick? Welcome to the club. And what a club it is!

Steven Simon, producer of such films as Somewhere in Time, What Dreams May Come, and Indigo, took up the challenge. Through his connections in the film industry, he tracks down an incredible variety of good films not always blessed with the ticket-and-popcorn sales required by major distributors before they fund production. Simon's outcome? A monthly subscription service, called the Spiritual Cinema Circle, that provides 3-5 full-length features and shorts on DVDs you never need to return. In fact, the goal is for you to pass them along to friends and expand the audience.

The major distributors won't touch the most heartful, soul-satisfying movies, because they don't think there's enough money in it for them, and even the independent distributors often overlook quality films. Big, violent, action movies bring in audiences that eat those huge $7 boxes of popcorn and those 32-ounce $4 cups of soft drinks.
