Growing
up in Iowa, Colorado, and Alaska Jeff spent many hours hunting and
fishing. His Uncle Del
was a taxidermist and it wasn’t long before Jeff caught the bug too.
Del became Jeff’s mentor, and in 1997 taught Jeff the basics of
taxidermy. “At first I only
got into taxidermy to do mounts for myself and a few friends.” Says
Jeff. In
1998 Jeff decided to pursue taxidermy as a full time business and Jeff’s
Taxidermy was born. What
started as a hobby in the corner of his basement has now grown to take
over the whole basement and is still expanding. “Although
some taxidermy shops may be large, I believe quality counts more than
size.” believes Jeff. Because
of the many years Jeff has spent hunting and fishing, he is very
knowledgeable in making his mounts look as natural and life-like as
possible. He attends
Taxidermy conventions for the opportunities to meet and learn from world
champion taxidermists. “I
go to conventions to learn new techniques and fine tune my own skills to
make my mounts more life-like.” Explains Jeff. Jeff has been winning awards at the Iowa Taxidermists
Association every year since 1998 including several 1st place
winners. Jeff’s motto is
"Memories that live forever". Jeff
makes his motto come true, not only in providing a quality mount but also
in posing the mount to bring back the excitement and memories of the hunt. Jeff
is a member of both the Iowa Taxidermists Association and the National
Taxidermists Association Jeff’s Taxidermy is in the East-central Iowa town of Victor, just off Interstate 80. He welcomes visitors and he loves to show his work and talk hunting and fishing.
