Contemptuous Brothers & Five Smooth
Stones

Yesterday while
waking up from a dream that had to deal with how David’s brothers
treated him at the front-line. This is when Goliath was taunting the
Israelites, and after reading the account of David Vs Goliath in 1
Samuel Chapter 17, something just happened and I came into a new
revelation of the power of the five smooth stones and how the enemy
is trying to dissuade us from using them. I believe I am supposed to
share this with other leaders and the body of Christ as well. Since
it deals with the Five-Fold Ministry Model that God is trying to
restore to the entire church at this time.
The first thing
that was in the dream was the enemy using David’s own brother to try
and cause him not to fulfill the vision and calling that God had for
him, to not get to the point in his walk to even need the Apostolic
Stones as weapons, to not go forward and take hold of the Five-Fold
Ministry Gifts that were needed to take down the enemy Giant in The
Land.. This happened in my dream where 3 voices of the past spoke to
me and basically said, “how dare you believe what God has in store
for you, if you cant take care of the small things how dare you
expect God to move in and do major miracles.” From an earlier verse
David’s father sent him to check up on his brothers and to bring
them and their commander some extra provision in the form of roasted
grain, bread, and cheese. 13 Jesse's three oldest sons had
followed Saul to the war: The firstborn was Eliab; the second,
Abinadab; and the third, Shammah. 14 David was the youngest. The
three oldest followed Saul, 15 but David went back and forth from
Saul to tend his father's sheep at Bethlehem. And just like in
the passage there are 3 voices of dissent and contempt from the 3
oldest brothers of David.
They despised him
for his lack of fear and wanting to take down the Giant that had
everyone else walking in fear and not faith and trust in the Lord.
These men needed someone like David to come in, and stir up the
water to be an overcomer and not look at the natural circumstances
of life, and basically trust God for what He says. Then to justify
their own insecurities they always distort the true meaning of why
these overcomers are sent into their midst in the first place. Here
again David’s oldest brother says this to him, “I know how
conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only
to watch the battle." They not only try and stop them through
talk of unbelief but then they try to shut up the voice of the
Apostolic and Prophetic from effecting others. These older brothers
are this way because they don’t want to hear the true voice of God
but rather they want hear a candy coated message of peace, peace
where there is no peace, like in Jeremiah’s day. They only want the
prophetic if they have to have it, when they can control the person
giving the message. And as far as a true five ministry model they
always want to distort this as well.
But as you can see
in Christendom Today, as in Jesus’ day, and in the time of David
almost whenever someone comes in; on fire and truly believing that
they can take the hill, and believe God for miracles. The old system
that represents David’s more mature brothers raise their heads and
speak unbelief and contempt towards people committed in walking what
God has for them. Trying to always keep them down, and are mad like
Saul later is at David because God is with the David’s, and not with
many of the older brothers who have grown old and stiff necked to
the leading of the Holy Spirit. The older brothers want a outer
covering of what appears as right living and are even talking
spiritual warfare but they really don’t believe it, and their trust
is not in the Lord or they would have charged ahead at first at
Goliath like the servant David did when he arrived on the scene.
Now these older
brothers have a way of trying to shut up the true prophetic voices
of God, through major control and intimidation. But as we see in the
scriptural account of David someone will hear the true message of
faith and overcoming and tell the people who are truly in spiritual
authority, and then the person of spiritual authority will validate
them and recognize them as truly being sent by the Lord. This is
what is written in I Samuel 17 verse 29 "Now what have I done?"
said David. "Can't I even speak?" 30 He then turned away to someone
else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as
before. 31 What David said was overheard and reported to Saul, and
Saul sent for him. So even when they try and stop the move of
God, if it is truly ordained by the Lord and the vessel that is
being used does not falter or cower down to their intimidation then
the true message and vision for that time, can’t be shut up the true
move of God will prevail.
But as we see as
David is questioned by Saul as to his spiritual fitness he is
testifying to the measure of miracles that he has moved in . David
had killed the lion and the bear, in hidden times when nobody else
was watching and he overcame. These smaller victories had qualified
him to take on the spiritual giant that Goliath had represented. But
as he is getting ready the old move of God that was established as
the authority for that season wanted him to put on their mantle and
armor. “38 Then Saul dressed David in
his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on
his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried
walking around, because he was not used to them. "I cannot go in
these," he said to Saul, "because I am not used to them." So he took
them off.” But as one can see that was not the mantle and
anointing that God had for the forerunner of the next move of God ,
for he had him do things way different than the Saul movement would
have done it. So David says, "I cannot
go in these," he said to Saul, "because I am not used to them." So
he took them off..”
Then David goes
into the spiritual battle the way God want’s him to with only a
Staff, sling, bag, and five smooth stones. “40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five
smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his
shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the
Philistine.” As I was reading this passage of scripture it occurred
to me that at this time by walking in faith that David was promoted
from his priestly shepherd calling that he had turned over to
someone else before he went to the battlefield, to the office of an
Apostle with the five fold ministry giftings at his disposal. I am
going to say something here that I believe is true, and that a true
Apostle can work at times work in all of the other four giftings,
such as a Pastor, Prophet, Evangelist, and Teacher. So I believe the
Staff Represented his Rod of Authority like Moses had & it also
represents the Apostolic Authority to take out the giants and
principalities in an area that God had decreed him to do. The sling
was the weapon that God gave him to accomplish defeating Goliath.
And the five smooth stones in the stream represent the true gifts of
Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher. The key is the
smooth stones in the stream that have been washed in the river of
life for a very long time to wash away the rough edges that cause us
to be ineffective in ministry. But these gifts were in fact
perfected by the River Of Life and ready for David to use to take
out Goliath.
I in fact think
that Goliath had a disadvantage and that was David brought five
times the needed weapons to fight and defeat him in battle. Now one
might be thinking right about now that this is nonsense but think a
minute here is the crux of the matter. That was revealed to me that
every gifting ahs the power and authority to take down the enemy
when properly employed in God’s kingdom. Here is the narrative
again, 42 He looked David over and saw
that he was only a boy, ruddy and handsome, and he despised him. 43
He said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?" And
the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 "Come here," he said,
"and I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of
the field!" 45 David said to the Philistine, "You come against me
with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name
of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have
defied. 46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll
strike you down and cut off your head..”
As one can see whenever we confront
the forces of darkness they always will rail false curses at us and
try to convince us of their power over the situation, and they will
always threaten us with some form of loss and or physical death.
That is why in
Revelation John said, "Now have come
the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the
authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who
accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
11They overcame him, by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of
their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink
from death. We must be like this unafraid of death, and ready to
face whatever the enemy is trying to throw at us if we are going to
effective, we must have this much trust in the Lord to trust him
with our lives like the early church did to be a testimony even unto
death. The reason that the enemy giant tries this tactic of hurling
insults, curses, division, fear, etc., is to try and get us of the
task at hand, which is to take him out and have the faith to believe
that God will intervene when we stand on His word. As the scripture
says Goliath despised David, cures him by his gods, and tried to
make David turn and look at his self by calling him a dog and making
fun of his apparent obsolete weapons. The enemy uses these tactics
because he knows that when we have trust and faith in the power and
authority that God has given us believers that he has to admit to
the truth that God is in control, and God alone has the power to let
him stay or force him to leave.
If we would grasp
the disparity of the kingdom of God being in control, versus the
limited weakened power of the Devil we would all walk more
victorious lives here right now, myself included. One time I had a
vision where the church I was attending had a ministering angel
assigned to it and this church was in the country and had around 30
or so acres of grass & hay land around the church building. In
this vision the Angel of the Lord was around 300-500 ft tall and had
his hand on the church building , and this wolf-like black dog was
trying to approach the church property to cause division and
trouble, and the voice of the angel said, “ you cannot pass through
these grounds, and this sent the dog running scared. When the black
dog got close it had to leave and walk many miles away around the
church property, and it was deathly afraid of the Angel stepping on
it and crushing it like we would a bug on the ground or kicking it
around sending the black dog hurling for many miles. This vision
showed me that the devil and his fallen angels are on a tight leash
and that he is very limited on what he can do and they know that God
is waiting for us to advance His Kingdom and subdue the earth and
restore that which was lost, in Jesus name. And when we do, Satan
loses and spiritual authority is set in place the way God want’s it.
Getting back the I
Samuel 17 story we are at the confrontation line and David takes on
Goliath, and as I said before, “David has five times the needed
firepower to take out the Giant in the land.” Here is what is
written, “49 Reaching into his
bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on
the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown
on the ground” Here is what is so amazing about this it occurred to
me that the stone sunk into his forehead and then he fell face-first
towards David. The stone sank in and the Devil was faced with the
truth of God that pierced the lies that this power believed the true
power of God made it surrender. This shocked and awed the fallen
power into acknowledging it was subject to the Spiritual Authority
of God. Goliath had to bow down and pay God homage just like the
impotent god Dagon had to when the Philistine people stole the Arc
of The Covenant, they put it in the same temple as their god, and in
the morning their god was bowing facedown towards the Arc, and the
next day his arms and head were broken off and the idol was still
bowing facedown towards the Arc. The important thing to remember
once the truth is inevitable the enemy has to acknowledge God
sovereignty and in fact the enemy must submit and bow the knee to
the true God. And when this was going on David walked up and took
Goliath’s own sword and used his own weapon against him and this
totally destroyed the enemy. “51 David
ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and
drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head
with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead,
they turned and ran. 52 Then the men of Israel and Judah surged
forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of
Gath ” So
once the power of the principality or spiritual giant is broken a
flood of faith will fill an area, and people who were moments
earlier filled with fear and unbelief see the true overwhelming
power of God, and they cannot help but advance the Kingdom of God,
and the work for a season is effortless.
The reason that I
said that David had a fivefold advantage was any of the fivefold
gifting when used right could have taken out Goliath. For instance I
feel that if it were an Apostolic Stone that David flung it would
have had the wisdom and timing to be effective when using the
authority of God in the stone, so the Authority of God would have
sunk in and pierced the skull of the enemy. If it had been a
Prophetic Stone it would have had some revelatory gifting that the
stone, that would have had spoken truth about God’s mysteries and
hidden things it also would have sunk in and rendered the giant
bowing. If it had been an Evangelistic Stone the truth about Jesus
and God goodness would have sunk in and brought him bowing down. If
it had been a Pastoral Stone the truth of covenant of David being
circumcised would have brought the giant bowing down before the
Lord. And if it had been a Teaching Stone the truth about God’s
written word would have sunk in and brought the Giant down. And when
you have five offensive weapons that all work in a powerful team and
are directed and trained by being in the River of Life for a long
time, you for sure can take out the giants of the land in God’s
perfect plan.
In closing
sometimes when in you are going into a battle that God has ordained,
many will try and talk you out of your destiny test, and when you
overcome that onslaught of doubt and unbelief, a bigger one will
occur when you have the attained five-fold ministry gift, because
the enemy will try and get you to look at the situation and try to
get you to walk in fear, but when you stand firm the truth of the
matter will pierce the enemy and he will have to bow a knew to God
and then we will have the ability to kill him with his own weapon.
Sounds good to me lets take the hill with the Lords will.
