District 9 x 9 Newsletter

April 2005

Bob (Doc) Holliday, District Governor

2004 – 2005

It has been said that toward the end of a race you need to give it your final kick; that extra effort that you didn’t know you had in you, which will enable you to produce amazing results.  Everyone has this.  It is a matter of, to what degree and when you apply it, that determines the success factor.  April, May and June, three months left in the Lion’s year.  A time to review, a time to reflect and a time to act.  You started the race, now make sure you give it your all and break the tape with pride.

District Convention

There are so many individuals to thank that I don’t know where to begin.  Hopefully, I have, through my one-on-one contacts, or other means, let each of you know that a great time was had by all, and you all made this possible.  A special thinks to the Muscatine Lions Club, President Jim Bixler, his officers and members, and to Convention Chair Ann Burr and her committee for doing an outstanding job.  Congratulations to DGE Donna Austin Schultz and to VDGE Dave Henecke.  They will do a great job!

Parade of Checks

District 9 x 9 Lions Clubs, your generosity never ceases to amaze me.  Thank you for your continuing support of the many causes you support.  They are very much appreciated!  In the remaining three months of this Lion’s year, should any unexpended money, budgeted for this year, remain on your books, please consider a donation to one or more of the areas requesting assistance.

Club Elections/Officer Training

Upon election of club officers, remember that the 2005-2006 Lions Club’s Officer Reporting Form, PU-101A, needs to be completed and submitted.  This is a requirement of all clubs.  One copy goes to International, and one copy goes to me.  April 30th is the absolute deadline for getting these forms to me.  I need to have each club’s form in my hands by that date.

With new officers comes training of those officers.  Your Regional Chairs are working with Jerry Inman, District Leadership Development Chair, to arrange training that will better inform and prepare officers for the duties that lie ahead.  Once training is arranged, word will get back to each club by the respective Region/Zone Chair.

Web Site?

If your club does not have one, consider starting one – it isn’t that difficult or costly.  Certainly it is a benefit, not only for club members who regularly attend club meetings and events, but for those who may not regularly attend, but who can keep informed by way of the website.  It also is a great tool for informing the community of what your club is doing, when and where.  He’s waiting to hear from you and help you!  Contact:  Ralph Binnie at:  3501 – 210th Street, Goose Lake, IA  52750-9629, or by E-mail at:  ralphb@willinet.net.  Don’t hesitate – do it today!

Charter Bricks

You are a Chartered Club!  Therefore you should mark that important moment with a Charter Brick.  These bricks will forever be a symbol of your acknowledgement of pride for all to see.  These bricks will be placed in the Lions State Office Building.  Your $50.00 fee for the Charter Brick Project will go to support the Iowa Lions Foundation.  Your Region/Zone Chairs have an ordering form.  Questions regarding the Brick Project can be addressed to:  PDG Ron Donald, (319) 228-8148 or by E-Mail at:  rdonald@netins.net.  Let’s get 100% participation from our district.   At this moment, we are waiting to receive forms from the following clubs:
