FRIEND TO FRIEND – This video has been produced by the Masonic Renewal Committee of North America to explain who the Freemasons are, what they believe, and what they do.  It answers important questions which are likely to be asked about the Fraternity.  12 minutes.

 

THE FREEMASONS – Produced and filmed in England. This very interesting video tells the history of Freemasonry, and the several activities Masons are involved in.  Although told from an English viewpoint, it is excellent for showing to all lodges.  Highly recommended.  Very good for mixed groups.  About 30 minutes.

*HISTORY OF FREEMASONRY IN IOWA – A video produced by the Grand Lodge of Iowa on the history of Masonry in our State.  Terrific for educational programs, and may be shown to the ladies.  17 minutes.

 

*LET THERE BE LIGHT – Designed to be shown specifically to the new Entered Apprentice and his lady immediately after his Initiation.  Also excellent for educational programs and for wives of Masons.  20 minutes.

 

*DYNAMIC LODGE LEADERSHIP TO MEET THE CHALLENGES OF THE ‘90’S – Produced by the Grand Lodge of Iowa, (a must see) for any Mason who has a sincere desire to see Masonry in Iowa prosper.  This video is divided into two segments, dealing first with:  How to Run a Meeting, Goal Setting, Imagination, Communication, Motivation, Education, Sharing Leadership Responsibilities, Establishing a List of Skills and Talents, and Building a Stronger Membership Base and the second with:  The Nuts and Bolts of Dynamic Lodge Leadership.  Should be reviewed annually by upcoming officers and interested brethren.  60 minutes.

 

THE LIFE OF WASHINGTON – Introduced by former Senator Bill Bradley, this video tells the remarkable story of George Washington’s life through original historical prints from the Willard-Budd Collection at Mount Vernon.  The illustrations dramatically capture the highlights of Washington’s career.  Viewers come to understand and appreciate the formidable challenges Washington faced as President.  Recommended for any audience.  30 minutes.

 

THE MANY FACES OF OLD GLORY – One of the best and most complete videos on the history of the American Flag.  While showing 26 flags of historic significance, this video will weave the exciting and sometimes humorous stories of each into a program that will make you come away a proud and better American.  40 minutes.

 

TOURING AMERICA’S CIVIL WAR BATTLEGROUNDS – If you love American History this video will be of great interest.  Good for an educational program and programs with mixed company.  60 minutes.

 

TOURING AMERICA’S NATIONAL PARKS – Covers 20 of America’s most visited parks.  Ideal for showing to the ladies while the men are having their meeting.  60 minutes.

 

READERS DIGEST - SCENIC WONDERS OF AMERICA – Three separate videos -- One covering the Atlantic Vistas, another the American West, and the third covering the Pacific Frontiers.  Each video last approximately 60 minutes and presents some of the most beautiful scenery in America.

 

SYMBOL OF PRIDE – An excellent tape to show at Friendship Nights, Ladies’ Nights, or for general lodge viewing.  Explains what Freemasonry is in a very easy manner. This tape was produced by the Shrine, and is 23 minutes in length. 

 

WHEN THE BAND STOPS PLAYING – Produced by the Masonic Service Association, this tape tells of the need to remember our brothers who are hospitalized in veterans hospitals, and explains the Hospital Visitation Program which is sponsored by the M.S.A. Prologue by Brother Danny Thomas.  A very good video, this can be shown at Ladies’ Nights or Lodge Education Nights, etc.  23 minutes.

 

JUDGE DAVID SENTELLE – This tells the very interesting story of Judge Sentelle, in his own words, of his nomination to a higher court being delayed because he was a Mason.  Eventually he was appointed, and this inspiring story tells of his belief in Freemasonry.  Excellent!  Good for lodge meetings, Education Nights, or Ladies’ Nights.  38 minutes.

 

BROTHERHOOD OF MAN – One of three movies on one video, this dramatizes the “brotherhood” of man through Freemasonry.  Very good for lodge meetings and Education Nights.  Approximately 25 minutes.

 

FACE OF LINCOLN – An excellent video about Abraham Lincoln, as told by an artist who actually creates a bust of Lincoln before your very eyes.  Excellent for Ladies’ Nights, Education Nights, or lodge meetings.  Impressive 22 minutes long.

 

A PLACE OF RESOUNDING DEEDS -- A TOUR OF THE U.S. CAPITOL – Excellent!  Introduced by Brother Fred Schwengel, former U.S. Representative from Iowa.  Good for Family Nights and lodge meetings.  23 minutes.

A STAR SPANGLED SALUTE TO IOWA – A brief pictorial view of Iowa and its people.  Good for Fifty-Year Presentations, Family Nights, and Ladies’ Nights.  11 minutes.

 

TURNING THE TIDE – An interesting tour through the Scottish Rite Museum of our National Heritage.  Good for mixed groups, or for Educational Nights.  16½ minutes.

 

THE LEGACY OF DeMOLAY – Tells of the organization and some of the men who have been positively influenced by DeMolay lessons.  Very good for Educational Nights.  About 17 minutes.

 

CONNECTICUT - FOUR PART EDUCATION SERIES – Four separate videos, each for a specific purpose.  Video 1 to be shown before receiving the Entered Apprentice Degree.  Video 2 to be shown immediately after the First Degree.  Video 3 to be shown immediately after the Fellow Craft Degree, and Video 4 to be shown right after the Master Mason Degree.  Very well done and super for educational programs.

 

IOWA STATEWIDE MASONIC TREASURERS CONFERENCE – Features discussions on Grand Lodge Insurance by Ron Moore; Trust Funds by Bill V. WILLS, BEQUESTS, AND LIFE INSURANCE BY JACK SCHREIBER – Extracted from above presentation.  Excellent educational program for the lodge members or for a special educational program with ladies.  40 minutes approximate running time.

 

INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE GUIDELINES BY DON GURNEY – Don is a retired Special Agent with the I.R.S., and presents an informative program on what laws Iowa Lodges should be aware of.  He also answers a number of questions that were given to him prior to the meeting regarding tax exempt status and questions dealing with our lodges and the I.R.S.  Also extracted from the Statewide Masonic Treasurers’ Conference.  Approximately 30 minutes.

 

WRAP-UP – Final presentation of the day at Iowa Masonic Treasurers’ Conference 1991.  Outstanding presentation by Brother Edwin Blinks on Masonry; what it is, past, present, and future.  This video is not only appropriate for an educational program in the lodge, but would be ideal for a Fellowship Night with guests present.  If you’re looking for a way to explain Masonry to a friend, sit down with him and show him this tape.  8 minutes.

THE HISTORY OF THE BLUE LODGE RITUAL – Presented by Robert G. Davis, FPS at the 1996 Minneapolis Masonic Expo.  Includes how Thomas Smith Webb and William Preston influenced the American Masonic Ritual that is now used by the majority of U.S. Grand Lodges.  39 min.

 

MASONIC RENEWAL TASK FORCE PHASE II – Barton-Gillette Study.  Attitudes of non-Masons toward joining Freemasonry.  Videotape of the 1990 Presentation to the Conference of Grand Masters.  60 min.

 

ARCHITECTS OF FREEDOM – The program lists a surprising number of prominent Americans who were and are Masons.  Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, politicians, industrialists, inventors, military leaders, entertainers, pioneers and adventurers – all share in the brotherhood of Freemasonry.  It also highlights the involvement of Masons in events that vary from the founding of America to man’s walk on the moon.   25 min.

 

200 YEARS OF GEORGE WASHINGTON’S MASONIC HERITAGE – June 26, 1999.    Be a part of the Memorial Association’s commemoration of the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s passing and help celebrate George Washington’s Masonic heritage along with the thousands there on June 26, 1999.  Includes nighttime fireworks and appearances by “General George Washington” as portrayed by William A. Sommerfield.  30 min.

 

TEMPLE OF DEMOCRACY – Join George Washington as he journeys from Mount Vernon, crosses the Potomac River in a replica of the first steamboat, and leads a Masonic procession and ceremony to lay the cornerstone at this Temple of Democracy.  As the ritual ends amid cannon fire, the Statue of Freedom is once again set atop the Capitol Dome by helicopter in this patriotic salute to the foundations of our representative government.  Approximately 25 minutes.

 

CATHEDRAL – Hosted by author David Macaulay this program is a combination of spectacular location sequences and cinema-quality animation.  Takes you to France’s most famous and awe-inspiring cathedrals, travelling back in time to 1214 to explore the design of Notre Dame de Beaulieu, a representative Gothic cathedral shaped by cultural and religious forces.  You are also treated to a close look at the vaulted arches, elaborate stained-glass windows and dizzying cathedral ceilings that evolved with the help of such medieval technology as the flying buttress.   60 min.

 

CLEOPATRA’S NEEDLE:  THE MISSING LINK IN MASONRY – An ancient Egyptian obelisk in Central Park contains hidden Masonic symbols.  The 69-foot high solid stone monument was a gift from Egypt to the United States in the 1870’s.  It stood where Cleopatra and Marc Anthony had their famous affair.  Watch as members of Springfield, VA. Lodge 217 dismantle and re-assemble a one-fifteenth scale wooden replica, uncovering the Masonic symbols hidden inside.   29 min.

A CONVERSATION WITH JOHN ROBINSON – United Grand Lodge of England. Masonry and religion.  Grand Lodge of Missouri.  See John J. Robinson, author of “Born In Blood” and “A Pilgrim’s Path,” explain Freemasonry’s image problem and how anti-Masons use old quotes and misquotes to smear the Fraternity.  More importantly, hear John J. Robinson describe how to deal with these attacks and even take the offensive.  Edited into six segments (approximately 15-20 minutes for each).

REENACTMENT OF GEORGE WASHINGTON FUNERAL (2 PARTS) – Over 250 reenactors at Mount Vernon, including descendents of Washington and his slaves, recreated the funeral of George Washington to mark the 200th anniversary of his death.  Several participants read remarks by Washington’s contemporaries expressing sympathy for his death, while others dressed in period clothing recreated the remarks made at the funeral.  Before and after the funeral guests commented on the ceremony and telephone lines were opened for audience comments and questions.    3 hr. 22 min.
