Grading Requirements

Each term grade will be an average of the following:
Daily Work15%willingness to work, following band rules, proper conduct and posture -- mental and physical contribution to the organization
Tests10%playing and/or written
Improvement10%playing up to ability and showing musical advancement
Performances15%attendance, promptness, tear-down, appropriate behavior and dress
Lessons50%approximately four (4) lessons are required per term (depending on the length of the term)

Six Weeks Grading Formula:

(D + T + I + P + L) = 100 possible

Grading Scale
A90 - 100
B80 - 89.99
C65 - 79.99
D55 - 64.99
F0 - 54.99

Semester grades will be cumulative for the entire semester.
6 weeks grades = 90% Concert or Book Review = 10%

Lessons

Twelve individual lessons are required per semester. Missed lessons must be made up by the end of the week following the scheduled lesson - in other words - Credit will be given for a maximum of two lessons during any one week. Material studied will be decided mutually by student and director. Many students opt to pay for private lessons with a professional private teacher. They are required to attend 12 lessons each semester also. A form will be provided for those teachers to fill out. In addition, those students will be required to come to a lesson at school occasionally for assessments.
