You really should wait 3 weeks before drinking your beer. However most is carbonated enough that you can try it in 3 days. When you pour it, remember, it will have some sediment on the bottom, this is naturally carbonated so some sediment can't be helped. Still with a reasonable amount of care, you will produce a high quality, clear beer that will win you friends and keep yo busy making more!

Water
(Duty compels me to tell you this...) much has been written about the water used in brewing. These two things are required: the water used in brewing should be clean and un-chlorinated.
If you are going to do a "full boil" that is boil all the wort, then you don't need to worry about chlorine or bacteria in the water. If you are doing a partial boil then you need to insure the water meets these two basic requirements. The easiest wa is to use a purifier. If you don't have one a 15 minute boil will accomplish both things. The day before brewing boil it 15 min.- put it into sterilized bottles cap with sterilized caps and refrigerated until brewing time.
City water is usually bacteria free, if that is the case with your water then to de-chlorinate it you can just run it the night before into a sterilized container cover with a clean cloth and let it stand-exposed to air 24 hours like you would for aquarium water.
(Now, to be honest, I have made very good beer without paying much if any attention at all to the water. Frankly I think if you are going to be anal about anything let it be sanitation.)
