N ATURE There is an old saying in the Ozarks . . .
"Our mountains ain't high but our hollers are deep!"
That about sums it up, you won't find the towering heights
of the Rockies or the Sierras, But for shear ruggedness the Ozarks
would be hard to beat.

Dragonfly

Dragonfly
Of course the most notable thing about the Ozarks is it's incredible natural beauty. From the old growth forests to the shady glades, from sweet water springs to grey brooding bluffs, this breath taking beauty and natural diversity have enthralled generations of humans.
In the springs and creeks you will find salamanders, crawdads, Darters and dragonflies. Along the shores and in the woods are Mayapples, Jewelweed, Violets and ferns.
The best way to explore the rivers of the area is poling a Jon boat, then you can learn the river fish, Bass, Catfish, Perch, and Gar. Following a Great Blue Heron, flushing out ducks, and Kingfishers, life is good.
Oh, sometimes you may have to lift the boat over a beaver dam, sometimes your line will get tangled and if you are floating in a 'tube' beware the occasional sharp rock . . . "Ouch!!". . .but, I'll say it again. . . .
                 life is good.
