In time to help in the preparation of your curriculum reservations, you can now search the H.E.R.A.L.D. Library online. You can access the site from the link on the H.E.R.A.L.D. home page or by going to:
http://showcase.netins.net/web/herald/cgi-bin/libsearch.cgi
To enter the site you will need to know the password. Please contact a staff member for your password.
You do not need to know the complete title and author of a book to search for it. If you know any word that occurs in the title or part of the author's name, you can enter the information that you know and the search will retrieve any resources that contain those items. Always remember that LESS IS MORE when searching. Just put in key words or an author’s last name. Unfortunately the trying to search from the subject field will not yield accurate results as we were not able to enter subjects for all our resources. To search for A Beka readers for example, you could enter A Beka in the author field and Reading in the Category field. If you would like to search for categories of items, the easiest way is to enter either the category or the Dewey number. (We are using our own call number system, so these are not actually Dewey numbers, but that is what the field says.) Using the call letters will yield the most accurate search since searching for the category, "Art" for example, would also yield all items entered under the "Language ARTs" category. To help you with these searches, I have listed the categories and their corresponding (Dewey) call letters:

Note: The top of each search screen offers the opportunity to request to borrow items that you select. We will not be using this system for your curriculum reservations. You will still need to complete the Curriculum Reservation Request form—either the paper copy or the computer version. You can use the online reservation system for monthly items that you would like to reserve for this year.
If you have any questions, please call or email. You can use the email link on the web search page, or you can email Mrs. Bartle or Mrs. Watson at heraldlibrary@yahoo.com
Let us know if you have any problems or suggestions for improving the site. Thanks for your patience as we have been automating our system. It is an honor to serve such a great bunch of families!
Happy searching!
