Above:  Blocked vanes.  You can see the hole where it looked like someone tried to drill out the casting that is blocking the air flow.

Also, I had to fish out parts from what appeared to be 3 or 4 bees that were stuck in this area.  I think that the blocked passage kept
the body parts from passing through and further complicate the problem

 

Above is a picture of the same location on a different cylinder. You can see the difference!
This area does not have the restriction that the above space did.

 

 

Here you can see some of the casting material where the two halves meet.
