Confined space training sponsored by the Fire Service Training Bureau. These are the trailers used for the class. The black pipe diameter is 24 inches. The class instructor and a participant look over and discuss the equipment used in the class
This is a supplied air respirator. It allows rescuers to enter a space with fresh air but without the air tank strapped to his/her back. Students learn how to set up and use the tripod and other equipment.
Students setup the equipment on top of trailer number 1. Students have setup and prepare to descend into trailer number 2.
A student descends into trailer 1. A rescuer goes into the 'tunnel' to extract a victim (another student).
Tom and other students lower Patrick into trailer 2 during their evolution. Here is a view of Patrick inside the 24 inch diameter tunnel. Patrick assisted the primary rescuer (can't be seen in the picture) remove the victim.
The rescuer pulls the victim out to where the winch on the tripod can take over lifting the victim. The winch has begun to lift, and the rescuer is helping to steady the victim and make sure lines don't get extremely tangled.
