Issue of  The Lutheran? Research has shown that two out of a class of 24 teens experienced a major depressive episode in the past year and children as young as preschoolers can show signs of 
depression. The article provides good guidance for parents and congregations with signs to look for and ways to help.

Next year (May-August 2009), three ELCA pastors
From the west Virginia-Western Maryland Synod will put foot to pedal/seat to saddle and ride more than 13,000 miles in 100 days across the United
States on their three-man bamboo bicycle to raise money for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. The pastors, all around age 60, will start May 13, 2009, in Chicago, stop at the 2009 ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans and end August 24th at the 2009 ELCA Churchwide 
Assembly. In between, they’ll hit all 65 synod offices. Check out their website at: www. tourderevs.org for a five minute video, the itinerary and lots more information. You can even find out more about the bamboo bicycle, which is really pretty sturdy and “state of the art”--
as are the three pastors!
Text Box: The 4th Annual Conference for Senior Adults will  be held
On Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church, 
112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.
The keynote speaker will be Pastor Laura Gentry who will 
Speak on the theme “Live Life Laughing”.

She will talk about the health benefit of laughing and how 
laughter can heal hurts, relieve stress, and help us in 
our daily lives. 

Pastor Gentry is an ELCA pastor in
Lansing, Iowa. She is also the Director of the Iowa
School of Laughter Yoga. 

She is passionate about laughter! 
She has written a number of articles and has spoken at
medical conventions, church gatherings, support
group, wellness events and much more. 

The national magazine of the ELCA, and the ELCA
News Service, have featured articles about Laura’s unique,
joyous, laughter ministry.

The conference begins with registration at 9:00 a.m. and concludes with lunch at noon. If you are interested, please see Kelly for a registration form. Mail it along with $7.00 to the address on the form. The cost includes lunch. You MUST
