Taking care of caregivers

During November, we celebrate National Family
Caregivers Month. Caregivers may call themselves
husband, wife, parent, son or daughter, but no matter what their title they play an important role in caring for loved ones who need their assistance. While this care is given freely and lovingly, it can be stressful at times.
At Lutheran Services in Iowa, we celebrate family
caregivers in communities throughout Iowa and offer
programs that assist them as they take on this vital role. LSI’s home health care programs provide important
services to families including home visits by skilled nurses, homemaker services to assist with light housework and respite services for those caring for a family member with a physical or mental disability. At LSI, we understand the difficulties and benefits of caring for a loved one. That is why we are here to support this
important group of people that take on these rewarding responsibilities.

Text Box: The Stewardship Committee will be hosting
a food drive for the Kossuth County Food
Pantry for the Thanksgiving holiday. Please bring items for a holiday dinner and place them in the grocery cart in the
Narthex.

The committee will also be
collecting a special offering at the door on
Sunday, November 1st
and again on
Sunday, November 15th
for the Food Pantry. Please feel free to leave monetary
donations on one of those
Sundays!

Please give generously as
we all have many things to be thankful for! Let’s be willing to help those who are struggling this holiday season and throughout
the year!

Thank you!!
Text Box: The Policy of the ELCA before the Churchwide
Assembly last August did not allow for same-sex marriages to be performed in the church.
This policy
was not changed by actions of the
Assembly. In April 2009,
the Iowa Supreme Court overturned a ban on
same-sex marriage, but its decision maintained a church’s right to decide who can be married
under its roof.

On November 1st Bishop Last will be here at 2 p.m. for the Waldorf Conference meeting with area
pastors. Part of
the time will be set aside for Bishop Last to give a report and answer questions about
Assembly actions.
Interested congregation members are encouraged to attend.
