Shalom, and welcome to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church! I am Pastor David Lawson and I'm glad you've decided to stop by. Gloria Dei, is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and specifically its Southeastern Iowa Synod. Gloria Dei is a congregation of 729 baptized members in the rural community of Durant, Iowa, just 35 miles from the Illinois border along Interstate 80. The Church was founded in June of 1938 and has continued to grow both in membership and as a resource for the community. Our mission statement: The mission of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is to share the love and teachings of Jesus Christ and His promise of salvation to all. We, as a growing community of believers, welcome all people to experience the joy of a caring, loving, and forgiving fellowship. We say this to the Glory of God (Gloria Dei). WE ARE A CHURCH FOR ALL PEOPLE!
